3D Systems' Guidance Exceeds Estimates: Further Upside Ahead
3D Systems (DDD) reported a solid quarter, as it provided a guidance that exceeded expectations. Net income growth is likely to stall as 3D Systems is expected to aggressively invest into its business in order to drive organic sales growth. Acquisitions and high operating expenses seem to go hand-in-hand with high momentum names.
Based on the information provided in the earnings conference call, much of the negativity surrounding the stock isn't justified at the present moment. Besides the concerns surrounding the high earnings multiples, and the euphoric rise of the stock price, there's not a whole lot here to short.

Skinny, the epip you have here is for DDD group, not systems...... bit mis-leading for those who don't know.

Ok - I'll move my comment about it being a NYSE listed stock to the header.

as so often with these edgy or even leading edge stocks, you pay your money and take your choice, always bearing in mind that there's plenty of risk attached to commensurate reward
i currently hold, albeit that it bought at about $89 :-( but on the other hand, i bought and sold another slice a couple of weeks back at a good profit, so may well try the same trick again

3D Systems: On The Road To Fair Value
Summary
DDD is to face lower margins due to important patent expiration and stronger competition.
Exposure to consumer market and questionable acquisitions have a potential to destroy shareholder value.
Development of the balance sheet positions such as “goodwill” and “inventories” are the first warning signs.

this is such new and cutting edge technology that i think a rational view of a company's value is very difficult to determine
for myself, i took the plunge because i thought it a very interesting field and i can just about see and understand its application

I understand the application of sex toys and find it an interesting field but it doesn't mean that I am going to buy shares in Anne Summers! :o).....also, equally difficult to determine a value!
EDIT: actually, thinking about it, that is probably a very good application for the 3D printer!.....which could put Anne Summers out of business!

anne summers may be a pubic company, but certainly not a public one, unless putting on pubic displays in public :-)

I'd agree Cynic, this is why I'm looking at technical support and resistance and not net worth or earnings.
