PIPEX COMMUNICATIONS - TIPPED FOR 2004 (PXC)

moneyman - 03 Jan 2004 20:03

Tipped by the independent 2/01/2004

........."And so to our traditional "wild card". Pipex Communications, formerly known as GX Networks, is a telecoms company created by one of the entrepreneurs behind Ukbetting, Peter Dubens. It has been assembled from six smaller players. The ambitious company is generating cash for the first time but is still not widely followed in the City. It could be an undiscovered gem".

What does a tight spread do to the share price ? is this to incourage buyers or sellers or both ??

Mack1705 - 23 Aug 2004 17:09 - 284 of 1874

troys,

I think it probably is there to encourage buyers

u can currently buy at 8.05p and ur investment will be valued at 8.02p

assume u buy 100,000 shares ur paper loss on purchase is 30

previously u needed to pay 8.18p and valued at 8p

paper loss on purchase is 600% more at 180

the stock also appears alot more liquid with a tight spread....think PXC trading volumes will be interesting this week!

Troys - 24 Aug 2004 08:28 - 285 of 1874

A good time to buy then ?

willfagg - 24 Aug 2004 11:47 - 286 of 1874

This share proves the point that sometimes it is a leap of faith! How many times has this been tipped in the last few weeks! Look at the volume of share "Buys" which go through with no upward share movement!Yet its trading lower!
Still loyalty is a fine thing if you can afford it. If this does not pick up by their results due 8 Sept I will have to move on.I cant expect them to keep publishing good news and at some stage you have to accept the price is not going to move as fast as you want.
Look what happened to Cybit shareholders!

zscrooge - 26 Aug 2004 08:31 - 287 of 1874

Once again PXC is a buy in today's Shares magazine. It states that the shares are 'cheap' and should 'double' within a year.

willfagg - 26 Aug 2004 13:07 - 288 of 1874

Yet again we have 2.5million shares bought today not one sell!yet you can buy at 7.85 when they were 8.00 earlier today. Why is there this underlying weakness? Maybe they want improved results before the share price can move on, and hopefully the interim's next week will provide this

zscrooge - 26 Aug 2004 15:36 - 289 of 1874

"House broker Collins Stewart has set a short term price target of 14p but believes that there is material upside to this price in the next 18 months. Consensus forecasts are for 6.9 million pre tax profits for this year, more than doubling to 13.9 million in 2005"

willfagg - 26 Aug 2004 15:39 - 290 of 1874

Thats oviously why there are now over 4 Million shares bought today with no increase!!! Frustrating or what

janesteve - 26 Aug 2004 16:27 - 291 of 1874

can anyone tell me if those big trades this afternoon were buys or sells....thanks

willfagg - 26 Aug 2004 16:40 - 292 of 1874

Someone's having a laugh. 8.5 Million buys! Then 4.5 million share transaction as the market is closing. You would think someone has been instructed not to let the price go over 8.00pence.

Troys - 26 Aug 2004 16:44 - 293 of 1874

Its no fair to us small investors when the mm do not play on a level playing field. Wish I knew what those trades were too. Again good healthy buys and we get nothing.

Troys - 26 Aug 2004 16:51 - 294 of 1874

They look like sells at 7.75. not sure though

janesteve - 26 Aug 2004 16:54 - 295 of 1874

i agree that the trades going through at 7.75 must be sells but there was also a 3000000 @ 7.82....was that a buy.....does anyone know

Mack1705 - 26 Aug 2004 17:01 - 296 of 1874

zscrooge,

do the Collins Stewart projections include the recent acquisition of Accent?

ptholden - 27 Aug 2004 09:26 - 297 of 1874

Funny old day again, over 2 million buys NIL sells and the preice hasn't changed. Does anyone know how much stock the MMs are sitting on. It would be useful to know how much of an overhang there is in this share.

Regards

PTH

Mack1705 - 27 Aug 2004 12:51 - 298 of 1874

my guess would be an institution is bailing out big time on the back of renewed retail investor demand on the run up to the results....

I don't have a good feeling about whats happening here, hope I am wrong!

Happy1 - 27 Aug 2004 14:08 - 299 of 1874

Mack if "an" institution is bailing out then there are others sitting on big losses !

Could it be that it is being shorted on the Berlin exchange ? it is listed there !

If it is then when they close........................WOOSH

Oakapples142 - 27 Aug 2004 14:26 - 300 of 1874

Had a look at YAHOO - It lists PXC in Berlin with a price of 0.9 Euros but does not show any trading

AdieH - 27 Aug 2004 14:58 - 301 of 1874

This could be the ghost exchange they were talking about.

janesteve - 27 Aug 2004 15:03 - 302 of 1874

6000000 trade just gone through 7.77 can anyone confirm whether it is a buy or sell
