Harry fairenough, you make some good points. Stock driven up by hype is as you say
likely to retrace as quickly,in fact my norm rule of thumb is at least 25% drop before considering investment and sometimes 50%.
The i know a director is just sharing info,so one makes your mind up.Why i holding and if the right price topping up,is that all the indicaters are saying look what me've got"interested? Perella welberg's involvement is a thumbs up sign for those of us believing in a T/Over or ps art sale,so i'm hanging on in their.Only tome will tell, but best wishes with your investments.

rom Gawain on iii.
Hi all,
I've been at a conference for a few days and have been fortunate enough to privately speak with some 'top brass' at Total. They are absolutely confirmed as being involved in Kurdistan and have been for some time, and they are actively acquiring assets - but I have been told that we are unlikely to see ANY kind of public announcement to the effect because it's just "not Total's style" to do this. However, I was also told that Total are keen to pick up blocks first rather than go straight in for takeovers of current players with proven assets.
I've also heard from Petroceltic that the IOC interest in Kurdistan is "at fever pitch" and that many interested parties are active, but just not willing to make obvious public moves first...
The picture I've gained from many people this week is far clearer & positive than many on the message board make out. Kurdistan is highly prized by all and has magnificent onshore assets, almost incomprable globally. But, not all IOCs 'play ball' in the same way, or utilise the same tactics or strategies. There have been and will continue to be many heavyweight political games played out, in clandestine ways, that even the BOD at GKP will likely know little of. Nothing new there then!
What is a 100% concrete certainty to me, as someone fortunate enough to work in the industry and spend proper time with these people, is that key assets in Kurdistan are the MOST desired onshore assets in the world - bar none - and that we must all learn to relax and hold on to/continue to acquire shares in this exceptional company called GKP.
Because it really will not be long before something siesmic happens and we see a rush of bids on the table. When one blinks, the others will stampede...
Just keep holding, and smile. This is one heck of a share. Nothing else like it in the world!!
GLA, and always research carefully before investing, usual caveats, etc.

Gawain's follow-up about our conversation of KRG likely to be spilling the beans:
"Absolutely - Total even said they expected the KRG to release news into the public domain which is why they felt they didn't need to bother going public 'officially'
The likelihood is that Chevron are already present too although I have had real trouble getting even a giveaway facial expression from even my closest contacts there...!! These guys are very used to holding big cards close to their chests. Poker on this scale demands REAL tenacity and skill!"

there's an awful lot of crap coming out on this thread - my dad knows x who is a good friend of y who has the ear and access to inner thigh of the krg preesident's pa etc - but nevertheless i do think this stock is likely to be a cracker, even if the timing is totally (sorry!) unknown

This sort of males sense.
Out of interest I have received a reply to an e-mail I sent to GKP.
It says
'blah blah blah...In the past year, we have been issuing at least one operational update every month or so, which places us ahead of most of our fellow operators in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and we will continue to do so.'

i will happily accept being corrected, for my memory was clearly faulty - it happens with age they tell me ..... anyway, as you are well aware, the value of gpk lies in this shaikan field .... if it's as massive as mooted, then for sure the company would be worth an awful lot to a predator, notwithstanding the current political uncertainty

will believe it when we see some oil coming out of the ground, HAWK was going to produce plenty of oil, so far only a few buckets, sp went down the drain when PI's realised the truth.

I believe it's upto 10kbopd now, from the 4,000bopd stated in the proactive report
?
http://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/37575/gulf-keystone-petroleum-exits-2011-producing-over-4000-barrels-of-oil-a-day-37575.html
From the O&G Presentaion 23rd Jan.
Intend to maintain drilling pace for foreseeable future: May/June sh 1, 3 & 4 40k bopd would mean self funding program's going forwards, then sh 2, 5 & 6 November 2012 to 60k bopd.
Currently funded thru 2013 including pipeline, development and appraisal.
Big play of involvement in Kurdistan including sponsoring seats at university and employing locals first wherever possible. Gone from 17 to 800 Kurds on the books.
KRG target of 1m bopd gkp will be a significant part of that. Considerable amount of respect between KRG and gkp. Proven premier operating company in sector.
Short and sweet presentation said TK.
Turning into appraisal and production company. Can produce 80k bopd now. Experienced no delays at all on anything with respect to politics and made great play of avoiding whole political issue. Stays well out of it. KRG very responsive and gkp not only have permission for pipeline but have encouragement for it.
