perhaps they'll order spaceships too then!

cynic - 10 Aug 2009 10:15 - 294 of 5505

just as a guideline, average volume here is about 5.5m a day .... as at now, today's traffic is 10.5m, with much two-way biz as sp is a tad down on the day

HARRYCAT - 10 Aug 2009 10:31 - 295 of 5505

Dated 28th April '09:
MoneyAM
"Gulf Keystone Petroleum has successfully spudded its first well in Kurdistan.
The firm said drilling on its first exploration well, Shaikan-1, on the Shaikan Block, is anticipated to take four to five months to complete."

It took them 3 months to drill to 1500M. Terminal depth is still approximately 6-8 weeks away, which means that the sp is likely to drift back, imo. I would be happy to buy in sub 23p.

AGM this friday.

halifax - 10 Aug 2009 11:16 - 297 of 5505

those fortunate enough to subscibe to the recent placing at 9p have made a killing in just a few days so some profit taking would be expected.

cynic - 10 Aug 2009 11:23 - 298 of 5505

or even thosre who bravely followed shares mag buy suggestion last week at just 12p - not me i'm afraid

halifax - 13 Aug 2009 16:02 - 299 of 5505

Is it still worth a punt in front of tomorrows agm?

cynic - 13 Aug 2009 16:19 - 300 of 5505

what do "we" think (lol)?
"we" would be modestly surprised if agm had anything of great importance to impart .....

however, and despite share mags note of caution today, GKP still looks quite a good bet insofar as (a) kurdistan not as hostile an environment as some places and (b) there may be further good news to come from that quarter in due course

GPX is arguably the better punt - i happily hold both

halifax - 13 Aug 2009 16:24 - 301 of 5505

We are back in GKP but missed the GPX boat which may be a tad expensive to board now.

cynic - 13 Aug 2009 16:39 - 302 of 5505

as you note, i disagree about GPX, though to be honest, i am already very well in the money there and even i am not tempted to cash in

halifax - 13 Aug 2009 16:44 - 303 of 5505

GKP remains almost an unknown quantity whereas GPX appears quite transparent, we see more %tage upside in GKP.

required field - 13 Aug 2009 17:10 - 304 of 5505

At the moment : they are both great to hold though GKP might drop in the event of nothing at 3000m, if they draw a blank down there ...back to 20p....but the well is already a success so perhaps settling somewhere between 20 to 25p....but if they hit the jackpot : I would like to think anything above 50 or 60p perhaps even more, so well worth staying in if my guesswork sounds about right...GPX looks like it should keep on climbing up to above 300p but perhaps not in a straight line....views on these estimates are welcome.

halifax - 13 Aug 2009 17:22 - 305 of 5505

If GKP as you say "hit the jackpot" you have another HOIL with the sp moving up to 2-3 a potential gain of up to 1000% whereas GPX going to 3 is a gain of only around 35%.

cynic - 13 Aug 2009 17:27 - 306 of 5505

lol! ..... would be happy with either going to 3.00 ..... i should live so long!

required field - 13 Aug 2009 17:31 - 307 of 5505

A mixture of the two sounds about right to me..exciting times....frankly it sounds too good to be true for GKP to hit a major strike...I will fall off my stool if they do !, but anyway I'm in and there will be lots more wells to be drilled.

halifax - 13 Aug 2009 17:33 - 308 of 5505

HOIL did it why not GKP?

cynic - 13 Aug 2009 17:35 - 309 of 5505

i haven't held HOIL that long, though i have done well enough from them.

looking back, if you managed to buy at the very bottom (150) and then sold at the very top (600), then 400% gain, though pretty unlikely you (anyone) did either

required field - 13 Aug 2009 17:42 - 310 of 5505

Well it's worth the risk of owning the shares that's what I think we agree on though oil is in the ground in big bubbles around those parts, it's possible that with this drilling they just miss the target...you never know for sure until the drill bit gets there so I'm prepared for disappointment.

halifax - 13 Aug 2009 17:46 - 311 of 5505

rq think positively! they have done their homework and have already proved this resource all we need is the big bonus.

required field - 13 Aug 2009 17:54 - 312 of 5505

Crumbs ! halifax it's not like you to be so optimistic....perhaps there is something at the bottom of the shaft !.
