Cineworld (CINE)

dreamcatcher - 18 Aug 2012 13:13

Cineworld Group plc was founded in 1995 and is now one of the leading cinema groups in Europe. Originally a private company, it re-registered as a public company in May 2006 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in May 2007. Currently, Cineworld Group plc is the only quoted UK cinema business.
In December 2012, the Group acquired the Picturehouse chain of cinemas consisting of 21 cinemas, and in February 2014, the combination with Cinema City completed, creating the second largest cinema business in Europe (by number of screens). The enlarged Group now has 217 sites and a total of 2,000 fully digital screens. Our portfolio includes four out of the ten highest grossing cinemas in the UK and Ireland. We pride ourselves on outstanding picture quality and atmospheric surround sound; the soft, deep-down comfort of our modern seating; the crunch of our popcorn; and, most importantly, the friendliest customer service around. All our sites are digital, and we are one of the market leaders in 3D, a format which will become increasingly important.
In 2014, Cineworld accounted for 82.9 million admissions, had revenues of £619.4 million and an Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) before exceptional items of £126.6 million.

I did say hope. lately I am finding patience and nerve are so far paying off. Pulled the initial capital I put in ,so on a free run as to say.

IC - A forward PE ratio of 20 times might look punchy , but Cineworld has a strong track record of growth. This , alongside a keen eye on costs , should support margins. The reappearance of James Bond and Luke Skywalker in the second half could also prompt upgrades.

dreamcatcher - 27 Aug 2015 18:49 - 307 of 501

ST of IC today - Analyst Sahill Shan at brokerage N+1 Singer, who has a 650p target price, offers some insight here as he believes that Cineworld's current market capitalisation is still not yet fully discounting the 18 per cent screen expansion that will take place in the 2016 to 2018 fiscal years. Mr Shan estimates this three-year roll-out is worth 80p per share and is leaning towards fair value nearer to 700p using free cash flow valuation techniques. A prospective dividend yield of almost 3 per cent for 2016 is attractive too. On balance, I would therefore run the 75 per cent total return including dividends on this holding with a view to the recent 599p post results high being taken out. Run profits.

heater owners and studios should brace for a box office slide next year, warns Morgan Stanley.

In a note, the investment firm predicts that ticket sales in 2015 will hit record levels, eclipsing the previous high established in 2013 by 2%. Thanks the success of blockbusters like “Jurassic World” and “Furious 7,” revenue will likely outstrip last year’s figures by 8%. Many analysts believe that with pictures like “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” still awaiting release this winter, this is the first year that the domestic box office will top $11 billion.

Just don’t expect the industry to keep trumping benchmarks. Even though 2016 releases such as “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Captain America: Civil War” appear likely to dominate multiplexes and some box office prognosticators are expecting another record year, the study argues that the overall slate does not look as strong and that these estimates are overly bullish. Ticket sales could fall as much as 5% year-over-year, it predicts.

“While the box office is notoriously difficult to predict, we believe a common-sense base case forecast should assume a flat to modestly down ’16 box following a record slate in 2015,” the report’s authors write.

The pessimistic projections were mirrored in the performance of exhibition stocks on Thursday. As markets closed, Regal was down 1.70% at $19.03 and Cinemark fell 2.91% to $33.66. Morgan Stanley reduced its price targets for both companies. Its forecast for AMC, the country’s second-largest chain, was unchanged and the company’s shares did end its day up slightly, rising 0.67% to $27.16.

Domestic ticket sales for 2015 currently sit at $8.5 billion, up 0.7% from where 2013 was at this point in its record run.

The Force Awakens is expected to bring in a record opening during its first weekend, with Deadline.com saying that it may top $600million.

Some expect it to top $2billion worldwide during its run in theaters, joining the ranks of the highest grossing films of all time, Titanic and Avatar
