Looks like they have dumped a load more routes if the the Facebook page is anything to go by - any idea for reasoning behind it?
If I am not mistaken they are also dumping routes set up recently such as southampton to hamburg - they must be paying out a lot in refunds and compensation!!!!!!!!!!!

Now just to show how I was pointing out FLYB have hedged there fuel at HIGHER prices than competitors and also just to show how they have lost out on the present low Oil Price.

Can FLYB cut back on margins to match EZJ and Other airlines?

Flybe's winter schedule set to take off

Flybe starts operating its 2014-15 winter schedule this Sunday, 26th October with four routes available from the Island to Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and the return of its popular ski route to Geneva that is being extended through to 12th April 2015 to accommodate Easter holiday travel.  In total, Flybe offers a choice of up to 116 flights a week with one way fares from £24.99 including taxes and charges.
This is the third winter season for Flybe’s successful Manchester hub from where Isle of Man passengers are increasingly taking advantage of by-passing congested London airports to make more convenient, seamless onward connections. This can be either onward with other Flybe regional services or farther afield to an extensive selection of long haul destinations through its various codeshare partners, when booked through a travel agent. The most recent of these is with Finnair to Helsinki and onwards to its many destinations that includes 15 in Asia.
Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, comments: “Regional connectivity is Flybe’s mission and we have worked hard to maintain the continuity we know is so important on the Island’s critical daily lifeline link to and from Liverpool.”
Flybe is always looking at ways to provide improved benefits for its customers and the start of the winter schedule also sees the airline welcome Avios on board with a new travel rewards programme, and Spend & Fly, a simpler way to earn flights with Flybe’s credit card.  There is also a new secure onsite parking option offered at most of the UK airports from which it operates when making an online booking -  and it will always be the closest available possible to the terminal.

WOW having had a detailed look at the accounts have I dug some comparisons up here.

New flights linking Exeter to London have been welcomed by south west business and tourism leaders.

VIPS are due to take the inaugaral Flybe flight from Exeter Airport to London City Airport on Monday.

They have called for the route, which will run up to three a day, to boost tourism and business links with the capital.

The journey time is around 80 minutes, less than it takes to travel across London, said Gerry Shattock, General Manager of Exeter Science Park.

He said: “This route is terrific news for Exeter businesses and the wider community as it is now possible to travel to and from London in less time than it takes to travel across London by tube.

“It means better connectivity between entrepreneurs, funders, researchers and businesses.”

Flybe has also increased its service to Manchester by an extra six flights a week.

The Newcastle route also returns from this weekend.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Regional connectivity is Flybe’s mission and it is hoped that our convenient new London City flights will be embraced especially by local businesses and those wanting fast and easy access to the heart of London.”

Chancellor George Osborne said that South West connectivity is vital to the economy.

Speaking in Exeter on Thursday, he said improvements to the A303, a main route from London to the Westcountry was ‘at the top of the list’.

Mike Coombes, MD at the Mill End Hotel on Dartmoor, and Chair of the Exeter and Heart of Devon Hotels Association welcomed the fast air-link.

He said: “This is great news for the county’s tourism and hospitality sectors. London City Airport has a large and travel-hungry catchment area, and it’s great that Exeter and Devon are now on their route map.”

Ben Rhodes, chief executive, Devon and Cornwall Business Council said that improved connectivity is a key objective for the organisation and could mean global opportunities.

He said: “The new thrice daily routes go a long way to improving this, enabling businesses from across the region to travel into central London conveniently and economically. We are pleased that the significant amount of work we carried out behind the scenes with both Exeter Airport and Flybe has paid off.

“These flights will open up significant opportunities for the SW economy, both in London and across the globe, via connecting flights from London City Airport."

Sue Wilkinson, spokesman for the Devon Federation of Small Businesses said that moves to boost business are always welcome.

She said: “The new airport link is excellent for businesses in the south west in helping to build stronger connections for members.”

Derek Phillips, Vice president of Exeter Chamber of Commerce and chairman of South West Chambers of Commerce, said: “We are very excited about the opportunities this will provide for Exeter and the wider region by having a direct air service to central London.”

Lifted from across the road in response to my hedging fuel point......

Some interesting points raised. One cannot argue with the fuel hedging policy as its there is Black and White. Whilst Easyjet and other large carriers will get better deals due to there volume you cant help but think once again Flybe have made an error in there hedging policy. Now having purchased so much in advance if we see a continuous fall in oil prices they cannot take advantage as much as other carriers who may of gambled and not hedged quite so much in advance - sure is a tricky to predict however, but with fuel being the largest single cost to an airline its a crucial part of the business to get right!
Due to Flybe operating routes that no body wants too that does indeed mean that they do not really compete with the big two (Easyjet & Ryanair), when they do try to compete as proved in the past couple of years the results are clearly not good, so avoiding competition is a good thing! The only downside is the market size and level of growth that may or may not be there in the new regional routes - only time will tell on that I guess.
Will be interesting to see the belated results, I presume they will again ensure that there are plenty of good points to report, and one would expect that all the cost saving measures have now taken place that things will look alot better than 12 months ago. There still seems a real lack of confidence behind the shares, long term sustained growth and success would surely change that but it still seems a risky investment just at the moment.

"Belated results"? Why belated, the company RNS clearly stated the date of the half yearly results which are due on 12th November.

VIPS are due to take the inaugaral Flybe flight from Exeter Airport to London City Airport on Monday.

They have called for the route, which will run up to three a day, to boost tourism and business links with the capital.

The journey time is around 80 minutes, less than it takes to travel across London, said Gerry Shattock, General Manager of Exeter Science Park.

He said: “This route is terrific news for Exeter businesses and the wider community as it is now possible to travel to and from London in less time than it takes to travel across London by tube.

“It means better connectivity between entrepreneurs, funders, researchers and businesses.”

Flybe has also increased its service to Manchester by an extra six flights a week.

The Newcastle route also returns from this weekend.
