That was the point I was making. The Olympic Park has, by now, an almost iconic look. Looks like the model was meant to be keepsake atop mantlepieces up & down the land, not a children's toy, but the shape is wrong, it's missing the triangular floodlights on top and the sides aren't angled. Truly dreadful!

Shortie - 27 Sep 2012 09:28 - 2992 of 3532

Does anyone have a view on Phoenix Group Holdings? Yield 8.2% with around 3.1x cover, I make the PE 4 and sp around half book value. To me the sp looks cheap due to the company having liquidity problems and being overgeared which the board has recognised and is addressing both. What am I missing here?

skinny - 27 Sep 2012 15:07 - 2993 of 3532

Pennant ?

halifax - 27 Sep 2012 16:26 - 2994 of 3532

shortie why not ask Hugh Osmond he bought 1.2m shares last month.

goldfinger - 28 Sep 2012 11:18 - 2995 of 3532

Heading for 10 years high. that would be some achievement.....

Dil - 03 Oct 2012 00:42 - 2996 of 3532

halifax ... his beneficial interest hasn't changed so he bought zilch.

Dil - 03 Oct 2012 00:46 - 2997 of 3532

Bought into OPAY today (cheers GF) , first target 120p.

Also bought into WMH , like the chart like the outlook.

goldfinger - 03 Oct 2012 08:44 - 2998 of 3532

OPAY yep Dil looks to have a bright future.

goldfinger - 03 Oct 2012 08:47 - 2999 of 3532

Havent updated the charts at the top because of the choppy markets. One day a 52 week breakout next day back to where it was.

Hopefully if we get some QE stimulus tomorrow and further stimulus from Japan and Europe the markets may calm down a little.

goldfinger - 03 Oct 2012 10:34 - 3000 of 3532

SPD SPORTS DIRECT

New 52 week breakout and 5
year high.

Shortie - 03 Oct 2012 11:45 - 3001 of 3532

Technicals look I must say but once the JJB purchase settles down I think this will be one to short. If JJB couldn't get customers buying then why should Sports Direct be any different?

goldfinger - 03 Oct 2012 11:55 - 3002 of 3532

Better management Shortie.

Dont forget JJB had £280 million of revenue last year.

Whos going to pick that up.

Potential massive increase in profit.

goldfinger - 03 Oct 2012 11:57 - 3003 of 3532

Worth a look at individual thread.....

looking for JJB Sports sales for last year.

JJB Sports FundamentalsYear Ending Revenue (£m) Pre-tax (£m) EPS P/E PEG EPS Grth. Div Yield

30-Jan-11 362.89 (181.37) (245.75)p n/a n/a n/a n/a 0.0%
29-Jan-12 284.21 (101.13) (21.54)p n/a n/a n/a n/a 0.0%

£284 million last year.

Just think what SPD can do and convert that figure to profit wize.

Shortie - 03 Oct 2012 12:09 - 3004 of 3532

I hear your arguement goldfinger but I'm not convinced. When Woollies went bust HMV expected to pickup the revenue but didn't. Alot of Sports equipment now a days is sold online or through specialist stores. The only exception I think is shoes where we like to try them on before buying. Best of luck with this one, but personally I think they need to become more online focused using their retail outlets as collection points to compete...

Seymour Clearly - 03 Oct 2012 13:48 - 3005 of 3532

SPD & JJB are often very close to each other in out of town locations (& sometimes in town), so there will undoubtedly be some duplication of stores, nonetheless the purchase price paid by SPD for JJB (£24m I think?) was very cheap.

edit - and they are pretty well identical in concept, so I can't see why there is such a difference in performance - apart, of course, from management.

Stan - 03 Oct 2012 15:05 - 3006 of 3532

Does anyone know how many JJB sites were Rented/Leasehold and how many Freehold owned?

goldfinger - 03 Oct 2012 15:29 - 3007 of 3532

Sorry cant help their Stan probably in the annual report.

SPD have bought the JJB online offering.

Bought quite a lot of casual gear myself from SPD online pretty good offering and fast cheap service.

goldfinger - 03 Oct 2012 15:32 - 3008 of 3532

Bought myself some BAB again. Nice chart with Bullish engulfing candle paving the way. Results were good yesterday aswel.

Hope some of you guys got SPD, moving on up to FTSE 100 status.

Big sell off in IOM. Wondering when to buy in.

goldfinger - 04 Oct 2012 16:31 - 3010 of 3532

Long on IOM . Looking to go for a second stab at getting over 200p resistance and round figure.
