goldfinger - 08 Jul 2011 09:17

Just gone long of SVS Savills. SP first target 440p and then if it breaks the roof of the channel aint much resistance around.

Am I right in saying there is a 10.45p divi coming up next wed (4th April)?

skinny - 27 Mar 2012 09:03 - 4 of 15

I have ex dividend 8th April @10.35p

on edit - which is obviously wrong as the 8th isn't a Wednesday!

PRELIMINARY STATEMENT OF RESULTS FOR THE FULL YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2011

"The final ordinary dividend of 6.35p per ordinary share will, subject to shareholders' approval at the Group's Annual General Meeting on 9 May 2012, be paid alongside the supplemental interim dividend of 4p per share on 14 May 2012 to shareholders on the register at 10 April 2012."

Yes, 4th Apr, but not such a bad divi? Might be tempted, though not really a stock that I follow at all.

Harry - see post 5.

In the Times, Tempus takes a look at property consultant and high-end estate agent Savills. It’s certainly had a come down, in line with the rest of the property market. Profits in 2007 were £85.7m, compared to the half year number for 2012, which was £18.2m. The group has managed to gain ground by offering consultancy services like simply collecting rent, while also raking in advice fees. That non-cyclical business is keeping Savills afloat and Tempus is impressed with its “nimbleness”, although the stock only merits a hold.

31,000 bought by Artisan today, up to 12% now. Followed these for a couple of weeks on and off.

Another one with an excellent chart.

it is a racing certainty that house sales will at long last start to pick up
the obvious choice is then to buy into some of the builders like barratt or taylor wimpey whose newbuild houses will generally qualify for the help-to-buy scheme and/or other incentives for first time buyers
you may even choose to hedge your bets via NMX 3720 (my choice)

however, it is also worth looking at estate agents, who will also be beneficiaries especially as the last 2/3 years have seen horrendous times for them

Foxtons (FXT) come to mind, but i have a strong aversion to that company's whole ethos of commission driven, heavy selling and all the other nasty bits that attach.

Savills (SVS) is a much classier act, and the chart below shows this could be good time to hop on board ....... sticky may with to comment here
