A company called Tata has come up on my radar, and, frankly, I know nothing about them.

They have a website at www.tata.com.

Their market cap is shown on http://www.tata.com/0_markets/index.htm, but I can't understand what the figures mean.

What does 'Rs in Lacs' mean?

How can I view the company structure? How can I view the accounts in either $ or ?

What part of the company owns Tata Consulting?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I've also found out what a Cr is too - it's 10,000,000 rupees (ie 100 lakhs).

It seems that the floated and quoted part of Tata is capitalised at 20,743 Crs - which is roughly 3b.

Tata Consulting is owned by a private holding company called Tata Sons Ltd. Anyone know how I can get hold of their accounts? Is there an Indian equivalent to Companies House?
