PIPEX COMMUNICATIONS - TIPPED FOR 2004 (PXC)

moneyman - 03 Jan 2004 20:03

Tipped by the independent 2/01/2004

........."And so to our traditional "wild card". Pipex Communications, formerly known as GX Networks, is a telecoms company created by one of the entrepreneurs behind Ukbetting, Peter Dubens. It has been assembled from six smaller players. The ambitious company is generating cash for the first time but is still not widely followed in the City. It could be an undiscovered gem".

Oakapples142 - 27 Aug 2004 15:58 - 307 of 1874

No move in SP despite bigger buys now going through at 8.12p

Loads of info here

On the positive side, when a company manages to delist itself or a company deals with the issue, then the shorters have to cover their positions and this may lead to a positive outcome for sp.

All buys.Up goes the price. Then 7,000,000 Sell !!

Oakapples142 - 27 Aug 2004 16:16 - 310 of 1874

OK now I get it - a 7 mil sell goes through and at last the SP goes up 0 .25p

Troys - 27 Aug 2004 16:35 - 311 of 1874

presume the 2 x 500,000 and 950,000 are all sells.

Happy1 - 31 Aug 2004 08:59 - 312 of 1874

Nice Buys comming in.

Troys - 31 Aug 2004 10:30 - 313 of 1874

and no selling yet !!

ptholden - 31 Aug 2004 11:59 - 314 of 1874

Here we go again, just about all buys, surely any overhang in this stock must have just about gone by now. Perhaps we need to wait for a 7 million sell for the price to be marked up?

Oakapples142 - 31 Aug 2004 12:27 - 315 of 1874

Hi PTH - the recorded sell of 239 shares might tip the scales !! - nothing would suprise me with this one - a clue to what is happening may be if we see large dumping early next week prior to 8 Sep

skyhigh - 31 Aug 2004 12:56 - 316 of 1874

What will large dumping indicate ? Good or bad ?

ptholden - 31 Aug 2004 13:28 - 317 of 1874

Sky, Bad I should think.
Can't see it myself though, all the recent news has been good and the trading update indicates the company are on track. An awful lot of shares have changed hands in the last month, much more than the normal average, so I suspect something is going on and have sent Pipex an email asking if they have an opinion. I don't expect much of an insight though.

Have just been having a look at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership web site. The holding of Pipex shares would presumably fall into either their Smaller Companies Value Trust PLC or UK Select trust Ltd. It appears in neither and at 3.222% would be in either of the Top Ten Holdings for these two trusts. So although Aquired or Disposed is not disclosed, my guess, (hope) is that the recent volumes have been due to SWIP building a position. Good news for Pipex holders, I guess.

The URL for SWIP is:http://www.swipartnership.com/discretionary_investors/investment_companies.htm

Have a look and see if you agree.
