Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

The question now is...... was this an opportune time to release that aka does it mean expectations are good for Rachel ?
Overdone drop and then good news from Rachel pushes everything back up and makes sure the shorts cannot settle into their positions.
They had to inform the market of that Ops Update as part of the process of ensuring everyone is aware of the latest plans prior to raising money/rights issue.
As a selfish long term holder of RKH stock I am happy to see the price down, firstly I have purchased more, secondly I get more rights now, the rights price might now be cheaper and, in the long term scheme of things, by H2 2011 you will have a new CPR and Sea Lion appraised and new exploration drilling done.
Being selfish as a fully paid for stock buyer, todays drop will make me even more money in the longer term :)

that's a bit harsh and certainly unwarranted ..... however, it does highlight how easy it is to get sandbagged and the importance of taking money off the table from time to time to protect profit
as for RKH today, i suspect there are still a lot of (forced) sales to materialise, and certainly i shan't be piling in
DES is looking much riskier now, so certainly any holders should be prepared for another disappointment and a hit on their bank balance - very happy to be proved wrong

Today is a day where my rules of RKH only with fully paid for stock and no stop losses rings very loud.
There is so much money to be made here in the coming 18 months you are going to have to protect yourself from the swings that will happen, nothing goes up in a straight line and there will always be sudden irrational moves that are buying ops.
However, if you buy on margin or spread bet you will always pay the price if the swings come.
So, as I have said a hundred times before, as I have done again today, I strongly suggest anyone buying RKK stock buys fully paid for stock, held with no stop loss and locked away :) !!

Master, I am very happy, todays news (most of it) is great for the long term. Thats all I am interested in.
From 38p to todays 380p is 1000% gain, and I fully expect this to be over 2000p by end of 2011.
I have purchased a load more today sub 360p and I am very very happy the priced dropped !!! Mugs selling, thats their problem.

I see reality is starting to dawn as to how to completely prove up reserves. More of everything and a downgrade of OIP already. This is notwithstanding how they actually get it out the ground and see some return.
Take profits now and give yourself a pat on the back for taking as much (or more) than is likely to be the full outcome. Does anyone think a pure exploration play is worth 885m? That seems to have been the mkt cap at last night's close. Now that's very expensive!
The workscope for which they need the further funding is huge. How much more cash do they need? I suspect an awful lot.

you are forgeting a profit is a profit, but it will not till bank, so I am happy to bank it at any spike and buy it at a resonable price, not inflated almost by your too bullish posts.
re - I have purchased a load more
Well I wonder which bank are you stealing from?
One only have so much money to buy things, plus..........do not put all your eggs on the same basket should come to you BIG HEAD some time.
Most likley I will wait for the R I or placing to be sorted first, must be the underwriters the ones than suggested to downgrade by 30% so to get a lower price
all the best
