Im keeping well away from the Buy button and have consolidated in the last few trading days. All march contracts for me from now on.
Even gold shares are doing nothing and we usually get a bounce at this time of the year.

Uncanny how resilient the FTSE 100 is and has been lately.

Trouble is with LLOY I was put off by numerous levels of resistance coming up.

Decided against Malta, got a customer. Mate of mines just been laid off. His need is greater than mine.
Sit out the gloom on the market at home.

Keep an eye on Facebook today as the lock-in period preventing employees from selling shares comes to an end. The shares have halved from flotation levels already. This is one share I've done very well out of shorting off the IPO.

U.K Outlook 2013: Triskaidekaphobia Macro: The fear of ’13
Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the number 13. Although there is plenty to fear, with the
pending US ‘fiscal cliff’ and continuation of the Euro crisis, we believe further steps to resolve
current concerns should be achieved this year and, as such, our economists are forecasting a
r.eturn to trend global GDP growth by 2014. FTSE 100 target = 6,300
Our end-2013 index target of 6,300 is based on a modest P/E re-rating to 11.5x (currently
10.5x), and earnings growing 3% in 2013 and 7% in 2014. Earnings growth should improve
given: (1) a brighter GDP outlook; (2) currency should be less of a drag; and (3) commodity
p.rices are unlikely to see a repeat of this year’s falls. Three themes for 2013
(1) We prefer stocks exposed to the US (US-exposed UK stocks, BBG: UBSHUSUK) and
emerging markets where growth prospects are more promising, cherry-picking stocks at
reasonable valuations. (2) We like dividends in a low-growth world but move up the risk curve in
search of higher yields and better valuations. (3) We look to “self-help” in an uncertain
backdrop, and see share buybacks as one way of boosting returns through higher leverage,
g.iven the yield gap to corporate bonds is at record highs – see Chart 2. Sectors
We like sectors that have lagged and are offering attractive valuations, such as food retail and
oil & gas, as well as sectors that are suited to the improvement in global lead economic
indicators, including the miners and media. We are cautious on the more expensive ‘safe-haven’
sectors, including the consumer staples.
