Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Not a good day! Sitting in West Africa and wondering what the F happened between Internet connections and boarding an aircraft. However following Cynic's well known logic of 'A profit is not a profit until it's banked' -'A loss is not a loss until you sell!'

Oh dear.
A 30 per cent downgrade would see recoverable reserves fall from 242m barrels of oil to 170m.
Cant you just smell those burnt fingers?
Investing in small-cap oil stocks is not for the faint-hearted.
Small-cap oil stocks can go down as well as up.

MRSI - at times you are a bigger tosser than clubby and certainly without his entertainment value ..... my portfolio loss first thing this morning wasn't nice, but it sure wasn't especially damaging ..... you should tuck into some humble pie and admit that your spiteful little canards are totally unwarranted
i suspect that your inflated ego and arrogance will not allow such a thing, and thus you will be shown in your true light

Toda's news demonstrates the risk inherent in E&P investing risk that many investors have chosen to ignore in recent months.
Recoverable reserve figure, should not be published till it had been approved via CPR
Doing your own research is invaluable, priceless!

Do not forget, the June update was written by RPS, the same people who today said they "maybe".........(yes it says maybe and not would)
I think you might find its just RPS covering their bottoms a little, and in the process allowing those taking part in the upcoming rights issue/placing the chance to make more money from a lower starting point.
The rights issue (possibly with a placing alongside it) will be run by Merrill Lynch/Bank Of America it seems. There will be big boys buying in, the type who would rip the hell out of an overly positive (with no back up information) report. Therefore I see this as a small step backwards in order to appear very open and conservative ahead of Merrill/BOA running the book on this one.
Just IMO.

IMO
The sp has risen this am to save all the institutions who have been caught with their pants down. Once they have bailed-out, then the sp will drop particularly as there is a fund-raising on the way. As it stands, and as there is now some doubt as to exactly what RKH has, what institution would take placing shares close to the current price. Of course, any oil find from DES would change all that.

Yes remembering old times is good, but things have change on my agenda, as I will not allowed ( naturally on my account ), posters to over do the bullisness of a stock (pro) or lies ( cynic), and if necesary I go to the point of redicule to get the point through.
Although I do not want to think I am old, most likely I am on the Stock market longer than any one of you ( yes I started at a very early age ) and I am not SWEET 16 any longer, plus also on the net posting ( over 10 years almost daily trading days). So I take it as a bit of FUN to do this things, do not care what others may think, I do know certainly than shareholder do not like talking down their company but that is life, most likely I feel the same on the companies I am invested at the time.
regards as usual

If it's a placing 300p.....probably will be placing plus open offer for existing shareholders ....2 or 3 for 10 at 300p...just a guess....depends of number of shares in issue plus what they want to raise...200 million to be raised..perhaps 250.....
