Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Do not forget, the June update was written by RPS, the same people who today said they "maybe".........(yes it says maybe and not would)
I think you might find its just RPS covering their bottoms a little, and in the process allowing those taking part in the upcoming rights issue/placing the chance to make more money from a lower starting point.
The rights issue (possibly with a placing alongside it) will be run by Merrill Lynch/Bank Of America it seems. There will be big boys buying in, the type who would rip the hell out of an overly positive (with no back up information) report. Therefore I see this as a small step backwards in order to appear very open and conservative ahead of Merrill/BOA running the book on this one.
Just IMO.

IMO
The sp has risen this am to save all the institutions who have been caught with their pants down. Once they have bailed-out, then the sp will drop particularly as there is a fund-raising on the way. As it stands, and as there is now some doubt as to exactly what RKH has, what institution would take placing shares close to the current price. Of course, any oil find from DES would change all that.

Yes remembering old times is good, but things have change on my agenda, as I will not allowed ( naturally on my account ), posters to over do the bullisness of a stock (pro) or lies ( cynic), and if necesary I go to the point of redicule to get the point through.
Although I do not want to think I am old, most likely I am on the Stock market longer than any one of you ( yes I started at a very early age ) and I am not SWEET 16 any longer, plus also on the net posting ( over 10 years almost daily trading days). So I take it as a bit of FUN to do this things, do not care what others may think, I do know certainly than shareholder do not like talking down their company but that is life, most likely I feel the same on the companies I am invested at the time.
regards as usual

If it's a placing 300p.....probably will be placing plus open offer for existing shareholders ....2 or 3 for 10 at 300p...just a guess....depends of number of shares in issue plus what they want to raise...200 million to be raised..perhaps 250.....

Todays news was ultimately very positive, thats why I purchased many more RKH shares at below 360p.
Simply RPS being a little more conservative and changing their minds on their upgrade and asking for more info. Nothing RKH can do about that, RPS did the June report and RPS have now asked for more info and said "maybe".
However, we have new targets, more prospective resources and everything is go go go.
Thats positive :)
Thanks to the sellers for letting me buy sub 360p :) !!

cynic we find the timing of RKH's RNS interesting as DES should release news of Rachel quite soon. No doubt RKH directors are well aware of the likely result already so are they trying to soften the blow?

good morning friend hali ..... i'm really not sure at all ..... my holding in DES is now small enough so that if sp went to zero, it would not be disastrous, which gives you an idea of my confidence ...... i think my short in FOGL is much more likely to be the strongest!

cynic don't disagree about FOGL unless they suddenly find a rig. If Rachel turns out to be a duster then we should see some further negative reaction to the RKH sp, so perhaps today's RNS was put out to prepare shareholders for some more not so good news.

Could go either way...but it's a pure gamble....I prefer the in and out way with these stocks....done that from the very start of this campaign...not the longterm stay put style...not until more appraisals have been sunk...then that will be alright...I had the feeling we could see humpty dumpty....a few days ago...
