Greetings all,
What a busy thread this has become. Delighted to see MXP having a good day at last. It has been a long time coming. Even more delighted that I managed to add another substantial batch at under 4p this morning and also encouraged my son to buy a few more at 3.43p.
This is just the start of the long road back for Max. We now need confirmation of funding from McQuarie bank to enable Max to start drilling on blocks A&E, and the long awaited farm out of the AK block. This should see the share price much higher in the months ahead.
We certainly need Max to start digging holes in the ground and doing what oil companies should be doing.

Cynic - nice to see you're on board. Just a toe or two in the water I see. Hold on to them tight and enjoy the ride. You'll make more than enough for a slap up meal or two at a top restaurant if that's your thing.

Edit: I understand from posters elsewhere that I have met personally (at the MXP AGM) that the funding with McQ is a done deal and that we can expect the RNS shortly. Dangerous to buy on such a rumour, but we have been waiting for this news for so long now, and it was bound to come sooner or later.

Cynic - I don't understand your post 317. The shares have been trading like fury all day through the market. How did you arrive at your analysis of trades? Certainly not from wathcing the same screens that I have been glued to all day (apart from a quick trip to the driving range at lunch time, that is).

cynic - 12 Feb 2009 18:57 - 321 of 695

i ended up with 20k shares which sounds a lot, but of course is bugger all! ..... prudence tells me i should cash in tomorrow, but greed is a powerful foe ..... at least the crow pie tastes truly delectable; michelin rosette standard even - lol!

cynic - 12 Feb 2009 19:04 - 322 of 695

and a double portion of cream for me too ...... see TMC thread!

niceonecyril - 12 Feb 2009 23:47 - 323 of 695

20,000 tucked away in the bottom draw could easily turn into 20,000 in 3/5years?

Slightly miffed as i never expected such movement pre news my thinking was,i could get in at 5p on arrival of news. "doh"
2 things which spring to mind,
1 exactly the interest and the numbers of IP's on the sidelines.
2 But alas one must consider inside info, not nice?

Pond life ;i see you are a golfer, the golf course is where i've spent my last 2 afternoons, missing all the market action.

as i have a quite serious match tomorrow morning, have decided to venture to the prectice ground later for an hour or so

it's a posh club, so we pronounce it "prectice" - lol!

have put in a sensible stop that will still yield a very tasty and totally undeserved profit .... shall move it (up only!) if warranted

cynic - 13 Feb 2009 09:37 - 325 of 695

closed out at 7.6 .... had put in 7.75 but must have gone straight down

niceonecyril - 13 Feb 2009 09:48 - 326 of 695

Well done, shows that trading is not all about charts,in todays market many solid small co's have been dismissed. Looks like the profit going into RXP( up 50%) which is much further down the line?

Take a look at HMB about to release production news, well worth looking into their web site and see the latest photo's.

cynic - 13 Feb 2009 09:49 - 327 of 695

did my bollox on HMB (and others) 18 months ago .... don't think i want to look!

niceonecyril - 13 Feb 2009 09:58 - 328 of 695

GO ON, be brave its M/Cap is silly at present, "same assets",start up hick ups sorted, crusher ready to go, along with pog back in fashion. I can see 10p in next to no time?
A no brainer imho

Morning all,

'Up like a rocket and down like its stick' comes to mind. Everyone and his hound has piled into this after yesterday's rise, so it was bound to pull back sooner or later. FWIW I reckon we'll start to move north again once all the T10 traders and assorted idiots have got tired of MXP and moved on again. You only have to look at the posts over the road on advfn to get some idea of the hot money that has hit MXP.

Enjoy the golf cyril - I am a novice, I retired last year and decided to give it a try. I've had two lots of lessons and at least I manage to hit the ball now. Loads of clubs and courses here in Worcestershire including one within walking distance, so I am spoilt for choice.

cynic - a profit is a profit - on 20k shares it should be enought to treat Mrs Cynic this weekend (assuming there is a Mrs Cynic). Enjoy.

Pond life,
Firstly. congraulations on your success in MXP also RXP. Looks like were same age bracket, i stayed and played at Bransford G.C several years ago(when i could play the game)and had a very enjoyable time. Good luck with your game, its not easy, especially when taking up at the older age.
regards
cyril

MXP has called a bluff - well it is on the way down now - 6p.

SELL if you are in profit

cynic - 13 Feb 2009 16:34 - 332 of 695

i did! ..... not often that i have got my prognostication wrong but ended up smelling of roses!!

cynic - 13 Feb 2009 16:42 - 333 of 695

just seen the post auction closing price ... if correct (just 4.6p), then some severe diarrhoea in store for current holders in volume ..... could say rather like TMC the other day, but shall refrain as it upsets "black pudding halifax" and the "raddled queen"

halifax - 13 Feb 2009 16:54 - 334 of 695

cynic you can't resist being abusive,as it happens we are still in profit with TMC and suspect we did rather better than you in MXP(bought at 2.6p) wonder where you got the idea from!

cynic - 13 Feb 2009 16:57 - 335 of 695

oh yippee, the old black pudding is back ..... well some of us showed a lot more common sense and took good profits when they were there ..... you seemingly did not!

and some simple maths for you .... what is the difference between 5.1p and 7.6p, compared with 2.6p and 4.6p? ..... and what is the difference between a banked profit and a paper one?

halifax - 13 Feb 2009 17:07 - 336 of 695

cynic why did you buy into the MXP momentum play, was it because you were missing the boat as usual? Come on give us some new ideas rather than hanging on to others shirt tails.

cynic - 13 Feb 2009 17:10 - 337 of 695

should i apologise for making a profit? ..... i did indeed buy into the momentum and had the good sense to BANK the profit when a COMMON SENSE trailing stop kicked in ..... obviously you did not!

buy ORE, as i have been saying for days, or would the logic for that be too difficult for you?

halifax - 13 Feb 2009 17:15 - 338 of 695

cynic we bought ORE at 22.25p and closed our position this afternoon ahead of the weekend at 32.25p. As regards MXP we closed our position long ago, come on give us some new ideas can you?
