ZOO OUTLINES US STRATEGY

Further to a separate statement made today, ZOOtech Ltd ('ZOOtech'), the DVD
technology division of ZOO Digital Group plc, has announced its future strategy
and outlined market opportunities in North America.

Management Focus on US Market

Given the market size of DVD production and the large relative size of
individual deals for its technology, ZOO is looking to further develop its US
business and will focus greater resources and management time in driving sales
in this area. In particular Board members Robert Deri (CFO) and Dr Stuart Green
(CTO) will be working more closely on the opportunities that the US presents. As
a result of this greater focus at a Board level, Cees Zwaard, CEO of ZOOtech
will be leaving the business. Specific activity will include deepening existing
relationships with the major organisations and working closely with customers
regarding process improvement, reduction of client in-house production budgets
and software solutions to meet client's requirements for next generation HD-DVD
and Blu-Ray. As part of this activity two members of the technical staff are
relocating to the US on long-term secondments in order to work closely on
current developments and future opportunities.

Hollywood Studio Market

Menu Regionalisation is only one of a number of applications for the DVD-EXTRA
STUDIO technology. In addition to ZOO seeking further menu regionalisation
opportunities in Hollywood, the Group is developing other DVD-EXTRA STUDIO based
products in conjunction with major entertainment corporates and Hollywood
studios. Significantly, the technology has proved to be compatible with
production systems and compliant with the DVD industry's extremely high
standards. It is anticipated that both the number of studios using the
technology, and the number of applications for the technology, will grow
considerably.

Ian Stewart, Chief Executive of ZOO Digital Group plc commented:

'Our technology is being increasingly used by a number of organisations, has
been rigorously tested and is completely proven. Its potential, both in terms of
the number of customers and applications, is huge and we are now focusing on
maximising the opportunities Hollywood and the US present and building on the
very important relationships we have worked so hard to establish.'

About Menu Regionalisation
The 'DVD-EXTRA STUDIO Regionalisation Utility' automates the creation of all
regionalised DVD's. The technology maximizes customers' time by using the
original menu as the template to automatically create different language or
regionalised versions. The regionalisation process is therefore standardised
removing error prone manual processes and improving productivity. More
importantly, each customer can leverage the assets created for one project by
storing translations and then use these translations for subsequent projects.

Translation costs are reduced as dictionaries are standardised and formatting of
menus becomes flexible based on the rules created for each regional version. The
cost reductions and labour savings are directly proportionate to the number of
languages used on a project i.e. the cost savings rise as more languages are
used.

Better news ladies & gentlemen, better news.

goldfinger - 18 Oct 2005 09:08 - 35 of 142

Excelent news from Zoo.

cheers GF.

azhar - 18 Oct 2005 09:13 - 36 of 142

How boring. been waiting for this news for over a year now. SP movement very disppointing to say the least. Well should moan it's at least +

andrewbertram2003 - 19 Oct 2005 11:00 - 37 of 142

Surely Zoo has a limited life...infact by the time they get their act together DVD and any media will be dead and buried.
Why....every household will have entertainment online over broadband. 8 to 24 mb services are already being provided in the UK. Most of europe are on major broadband. Mainstream in the next 5 years? Analogue TV being shut down in 2008.
ITV have just launched a trial.

As for my DVD player, I don;t use it at all now. I use my PC and Sky.
I did hear that DVD rentals are flat currently. This is the turnng point. The rental shops will all go under in the next 2 to 5 years.

So where does Zoo's product fit in the future?

I see the future....

jacobjohn7 - 19 Oct 2005 14:32 - 38 of 142

bertram... LOL. that is the funniest post i've read to date.

jacobjohn7 - 19 Oct 2005 14:34 - 39 of 142

ATTENTION WORLD: andrew bertram is not using his dvd player, this surely must symbolise the downward spiral for the format, in which idvd is currently enjoying massive growth.

andrewbertram2003 - 19 Oct 2005 19:38 - 40 of 142

Thanks Jacob. If I can bring a little sunshine to your day I will.

iDVD is Apples way of increasing its 'i' branding and is brilliant for the market today and for the next couple of years. I feel it would have a limited lifespan...perhaps 3 to 7 years.

So, tell me what you see broadband being used for in the next few years? you old dino you. :-)

jacobjohn7 - 20 Oct 2005 11:09 - 41 of 142

AB: wasnt thinking of apple. ZOO lead the way in interactive dvd (idvd), thats what i was referring to, sorry for confusing you.
I have no issue with broadband being used more.. the point is dvd players have taken over and barring seeing additional hybrid formats, i reckon the formats gonna have a strong hold and evolve with the market. PC users into the tech side will want the all in entertainment system,95% of the market are the people who are quite happy with the dvd that they bought down at tescos for 40. The traditional living room TV/DVD.... prior to this video, will take some changing. All in all dvd will be with us for quite a while.

This is excellent news, and I think ZOO will be aiming at the US more and more in the future!

ZOO BREAKS INTO NORTH AMERICAN MARKET WITH WALLACE & GROMIT DVD GAME AGREEMENT

- Partnership with LA-based games producer Snap TV -
- ZOO's first product to be sold in the US market-

ZOO Digital Publishing Ltd ('ZDPL'), the games publishing division of ZOO
Digital Group plc, today announces that it has partnered with Snap TV, a US DVD
games production and distribution company, to publish its interactive DVD game
Wallace & Gromit 'Curse of the Were-Rabbit'. The agreement is a landmark one for
ZDPL as it marks the first time that a ZOO product has been published in the US.

The announcement follows the agreement announced on 21 July 2005 that ZOO, in
partnership with Aardman Animations and Universal Pictures, will release its
first non-quiz DVD game based on the Wallace & Gromit film and using DVD-EXTRA
technology across a number of territories including the UK, France, Germany,
Spain, Austria, , Australia and Japan.

Ian Stewart, Chief Executive of ZOO, said:

'The Wallace & Gromit game is a landmark product for ZOO. Not only is it the
world's first and most complex non-quiz interactive DVD game using DVD-EXTRA
technology, but also because it marks the first time that ZOO have broken into
the US market. Through the release of the game into the US we expect to agree
further licensing deals in the North American market.'

Lets hope we see some movement in the share price.

skids - 24 Oct 2005 08:12 - 44 of 142

Troys,

I doubt todays news will raise the price by much, however I do think its an important deal. The US is a huge market and ZOO could make substantial profits there if all of the recent hard work (trade shows) pays off.

zombie - 31 Oct 2005 16:05 - 49 of 142

Yup read about the other possible Disney contract in weekend Telegraph.

Don't know whether this is related to that or whether its yet another speculated deal:

"Also in focus on speculation it is shortly to make an announcement regarding Ascent Media. Zoo Digital not immediately available to comment."

not very good results latest, but chins up, a wave of new products
including interactive dvds scheduled for the fourth quarter onwards, which
should see us gaining a bit more momentum for the rest of 2006,
