Amerisur Reources : Sth. American Oil/Gas explorer (AMER)

Sharesure - 30 Jun 2007 18:48

Amerisur Resources is exploring for oil and gas in South America, currently in Colombia and later it plans to exploit its licences in Paraguay. It has a new Board of Directors and following a recent Placing at 6p (250m shares) sufficient cash to see through its current drilling plans and carry out some further corporate asset improvement opportunities.

Valuation of Amerisur Resources : 'Rule of Thumb' based on c.800m shares and using 10% DCF on oil at $70/barrel is 0.75p on the sp for every 1m barrels (CHP's share) that is proved in the ground.

Amerisur (formerly Chaco Resources) now has two exploration blocks in Colombia which it is currently evaluating and preparing to drill, one of these in the last quarter of 2007. It has also applied for further blocks in Colombia which are also believed to offer near term production. It also has three substantial areas in Paraguay and is awaiting news on a fourth. The next six months (May-November 2008) should see a steady news flow as it establishes the companys transformation from being an exploration company to becoming a significant oil production company. Set out below are some of the milestones which should produce announcements and have a positive effect on the share price. Any potential reserves are quoted in recoverable oil assets.

Platinillo, Colombia :

100% interest in a field currently assessed at holding 38.1m barrels of light sweet crude oil. Previously this a well flowed at 533 b/d before it was capped.Modern extraction methods may achieve up to double this output/well. Drilling completed for assessment and details of reserve figures and resumption of production daily figures awaited at Dec.2009. (Some guessestimates suggest the field might contain as much as 70m-100m barrels.)

b>

Tigra/Fenix block

100%% Further 3D seismic is completed; previous drilling has resulted in 30,000 barrels of oil from this block. Other blocks nearby in the Magdalena basin have also produced well. Drilled 11/2009; optimistic RNS (17 leads to follow)but reserve figures awaited

RNS :Expect further news on this block imminently and maybe a JV or other arrangement to speed up the timescale to production

Additional blocks to be announced

New local management team, in particular the CEO, is reputed to have some excellent contacts which will bring some high quality blocks to Amerisur in the coming months.

Curupayty Block, Paraguay :

1.39m hectares in north, close to Bolivia. Two wells previously drilled and both showed oil.

RNS : Expect JV with larger producer.

San Pedro Block, Paraguay :

1m hectares in south-east. Previous drilling showed oil.

RNS : Expect JV with larger producer.

Parana Basin, Paraguay :

Canindeyu block covering 1,789,000 hectares. Bordering Brazil. Oil field on Brazilian side already drilled. Chaco also expect to find oil and, at a deeper level, considerable quantities of gas. Chaco has obtained valuable historic seismic for re-evaluation.

RNS : Presidential Decree received 2/11/06.. Petrobras has announced its intention to increase substantially its effort to exploit Paraguay's hydrocarbons and has announced a farm-in on CDS's adjacent block. Possibility that they or another major will do likewise with Amerisur

Corporate Activity : The new Chairman is believed to have been brought on board to prove some or all of the existing Colombian assets and get these oil producing, arrange a JV on the Paraguayan assets before negotiating a sale of the company as consolidation of explorers in the region continues. An exit sp north of 1.00 over the next 12 months might be a reasonable target provided the drilling programme lives up to expectations, the price of oil remains at/above current levels and an approach is made for the company.

Trust that its a nice smell !

Jonk1 - 02 Jul 2014 09:31 - 3212 of 3289

10:1 buys to sells and price goes down?

Jonk1 - 14 Aug 2014 13:40 - 3213 of 3289

Been told that the pipeline will be much bigger than first planned. Anyone else heard anything?

Sharesure - 14 Aug 2014 18:09 - 3214 of 3289

Yes, amongst other things. I don't think that there is any doubt in the minds of the larger shareholders where this is heading but they have the advantage of being invited to very selective Presentations. Since those last Presentations took place the sp has been firming up. It seems that when the company decide formally to tell the rest of us via an RNS it will be good news.
On the Paraguay front PPC's drilling result seems more positive from our point of view than President Energy's. The previous Board, and in particular one of the ex-BP guys always said that Amerisur had the best hydrocarbon areas in Paraguay (I seem to remember that he actually said 80% of the best hydrocarbon areas were within Amerisur's acreages). His track record was apparently long ago having stood on the north Norfolk coast and looked out over the North Sea and stated that there was oil out there way before others had even thought about it. Got that one right in Spades.
There were strong rumours that an RNS would be out this week. One day left, to state the obvious!

What about a day or two after the Oval Test Match which starts to-day. GC would not wish to miss it and may well be hosting important interesting parties at the Kia Oval.

colombo - 26 Aug 2014 11:28 - 3216 of 3289

positive RNS, twice as many buys as sells, down 2%?

Oakapples142 - 26 Aug 2014 11:40 - 3217 of 3289

As a fan of "Colombo" I would expect him to fathom it out - perhaps after checking with Mrs Colombo. - but it makes no sense to me.

Seems a drop on news is the way of things each time where Amerisur is concerned but there is plenty more to be announced over the rest of this year. The pipeline approval is key to a step change happening.

Has every one else jumped ship - surprised no comments on RNS an recent SP

tobyson - 08 Oct 2014 15:06 - 3220 of 3289

It's starting to feel very lonely - is there some bad news coming or is it someone creating a buying opportunity?

Jonk1 - 08 Oct 2014 15:18 - 3221 of 3289

No bad news. Just the price being manipulated so that the chosen ones can fill their boots!

Sharesure - 08 Oct 2014 15:25 - 3222 of 3289

Yesterday's RNS was very good news. The company just needs the pipeline in operation and then there is the opportunity for a step change in revenue. In my view when the pipeline is operational the company will be vulnerable to an opportunistic bid.

tobyson - 08 Oct 2014 15:27 - 3223 of 3289

If only.

Oakapples142 - 08 Oct 2014 16:35 - 3224 of 3289

Thanks all - I really was feeling lonely and on the face of it losing a packet but have been here for many years and am not leaving. Sharesure is often right and is so again !

Sharesure - 08 Oct 2014 17:57 - 3225 of 3289

Oaks, thanks, although not infallible, particularly on timing - always seem to reckon things can happen quicker! It's my view that Amerisur is still well worth sticking with - we have all been here a long time, far longer than anyone thought would be the case in 2001/2 when the crowd from Perth first pulled us a bunch of punters to put up the initial funds. Surprised that you say you are losing a packet on it unless you have been trading it and have not enjoyed the often erratic rise from the initial 1p/share subscription price.
Hopefully the next six months should see this all finally slot into place.

Oakapples142 - 09 Oct 2014 17:39 - 3226 of 3289

You are quite right (again!). I am only losing the drop from 65p ish. My cost price is now an average of 13.6p and have both added to and taken profits over the years. Still well in front but have learned a lesson or two and now keep a portfolio of high div payers and only three speculative including AMER and OXB (who had a good day). So did I as I have today been given the all clear for Prostate Cancer after a two year fight. Now to open a bottle!

Sharesure - 09 Oct 2014 18:22 - 3227 of 3289

Big relief for you - well worth a bottle or two!
Off thread: If you are up for an out and out gamble - take a look at the thread I started on Worthington (WRN) (back in 2005 - I wasn't exaggerating about getting timings on the optimistic side!). Although I own quite a few from the very early days, it is also a share that is possible to trade in and out of since it is so volatile. The news on new deals comes out regularly and because there is so little stock it fluctuates wildly. It is risky though.

bigwavedave - 14 Oct 2014 10:39 - 3228 of 3289

Oakapples: well done your good news :)

Sharesure - 16 Oct 2014 11:36 - 3229 of 3289

Is this a shorting attack because Amerisur is between RNS's in a weak oil market? There must be some news due soon, even if it is only to confirm that start of the construction of the pipeline. Would be a relief to see the bounce as short positions are closed out if that is the reason. Pity that the company never seem to care about informing shareholders about major movements in the company's sp.
Shame that all of that progress has been destroyed in a matter of days.

Oakapples142 - 16 Oct 2014 11:52 - 3230 of 3289

Here here (or is it hear hear!) to all you say. Trading today also confuses me as buys are equalling sells although SP is nearly 12% down I am climbing back on my yacht until it blows over and sitting on my hands - no sell out for me. This stock is still a good bet.
