Today could be a very, very important day for SEY holders.

hilary - 18 Feb 2005 08:01 - 3387 of 7811

It could also be a very, very important day for SEY bears.

proptrade - 18 Feb 2005 09:21 - 3391 of 7811

you guys!

hils, i have one question. are you short? if so great and good luck, if not put your money where your mouth is and stop riling the other punters!

everyone else...this is the long game. trade a few around but if you believe in a couple of baggers then who cares about not such a great interweek move. relaxxxxxx!

StarFrog - 18 Feb 2005 09:30 - 3392 of 7811

Hils short? My guess about 5'9'' ;-)

Anyway, sp rising at the moment - so what's the problem?

proptrade - 18 Feb 2005 09:45 - 3393 of 7811

none at all...just want to pep up the board and keep things positive

hilary - 18 Feb 2005 09:51 - 3394 of 7811

I don't know if you guys are in denial, but my short was discussed on this thread at great length a couple of weeks back. I've got a totally open mind on it at the moment and it could still go either way ..... it needs to close on or below 17p first before I really start digging the claws in.

Frogface,

5' exactly as it happens.

StarFrog - 18 Feb 2005 09:58 - 3395 of 7811

Hils - I was gonna guess at 5', but I thought I'd give you a little more stature. LOL

stockdog - 18 Feb 2005 09:59 - 3396 of 7811

Hilary - are you sure you're not shorting yourself even a tiny bit? :)

stockdog - 18 Feb 2005 10:08 - 3397 of 7811

DD and MS why do you think we may get hit?

I see sells of just over 550k and buys of just under 200k so far to day all within the price and a tiny rise in that. Not as thought the MM's are sucking in buyers before dumping the price is it?

Hilary - I don't understand the mechanics (or psychology) of shorting. Does posting adverse comment actually make a difference to the wider market - I'm genuinely curious?

It should gain some energy before any decent rise. It should follow DGO, but slightly slower imo

hilary - 18 Feb 2005 10:52 - 3399 of 7811

Stockdog,

In practise, bearish comments on bulletin boards probably serve as much purpose as the rest of the bullish inane drivel which is posted about stocks on internet bulletin boards.

Imo, there is too much background noise for the comments to be heard and serve any useful purpose, so you might just as well natter about what you're having for dinner. I also doubt that the captive audience of this particular thread is as large as, say, the Chronic Investor which is media which will actually draw in buyers or flush out sellers. Proof of that comes in the form of Edmundo's comments this week which served to pull in some buyers. There is no doubt that Edmundo writes to a large audience through his articles on Citywire and in the Torygraph.

Unfortunately, I also happen to believe that Edmundo is the UK's third worst share tipster, surpassed only by Ainsoph and Tom Winnidrip. Come to think of it, I wonder if Edmundo is actually Ainsoph in disguise.

stockdog - 18 Feb 2005 10:59 - 3400 of 7811

Thanks Hilary - I quite like all the noise though, it passes the time sociably enough.

You know I like to hunt a pack (whoops, sorry that's now illegal!)

OK then, tonight I shall be having a chicken vindaloo with mushroom rice, Bombay Aloo and a peshwari naan, the wife will probably have a Korma. Oh, and can't forget a good few bottles of Cobra beer to wash it all down with.

How about the rest of you?

gavdfc - 18 Feb 2005 11:18 - 3402 of 7811

Peshwari nan, now you're talking! Personally i would have a lamb tikka to go with that, or maybe a lamb bhuna, but then again, a madrass goes down well!

No such luck here though, pasta tonight, so exciting!

As to the talk of chatter on a bb of either a bullish or bearish nature moving the sp up or down, I don't believe that it does. It may encourage a very small amount of people to either buy or sell, and I do mean a very small amount of people. But these people will not affect the price movement in any direction IMO.

proptrade - 18 Feb 2005 11:29 - 3403 of 7811

the important thing is that info is shares and bulls**t is kept to a minimum. if you see a note in the mkt or media mention then great, if not...then its a curry and eastenders fest!

i short stocks all the time but they tend to be big caps that trade in beautiful waves on a daily basis. with the small caps you don't always have the spreads or volume to take full advantage.

hils, had the first read of the IC in years last week. what utter drivvel. good for the weeks summation of events buy CRAP from mkt commentary on results and their opinions. i would rather they publish recipie of the week and then i might subscribe!

seawallwalker - 18 Feb 2005 11:43 - 3404 of 7811

Hilary is spot on though in that comments on bb's do little or nothing to the share price.

Too few read the comments and make a difference.

That is why as an investor in any share it is important to know what is happening to your Company and what the prospects are rather than ask someone else on a bb who may for devilment gives you the wrong info or lead you into taking a course of action that you would not have taken without that info.

Seen it all before with other bb's and threads, PET is a prime example of Bulls and Bears and I don't necessarily mean the moneyam bb.
Ramp up the price on rumour and deramp once they have sold out after the promise has not been met.

hilary, you are one such person judged solely by your comments today. There have been others of course and we who have been here a while will have seen them.

I dont see a problem with it, so long as people make their own decisions and are not influenced by you.

I do not respect your opinion of this stock, and to be honest, never have.

I am confident that long term all will be well, I agree that it is sometimes wise to buy and sell within any established channel, Sterling has not yet really established a pattern to do this on a regular basis imo, but there may be opportunites to buy up cheap stock, as there was previously at 14p.

MS, as I have always said, buy sell or hold is your decision, and whatever you do will not affect this stock.

It's your money, do as you must.

Thank God for that!

Back to food now.

Sorry, I forgot.

Thank you hilary for being so candid and transparent.
