Cynic,
A reserves update due out, plus the results of the latest drilling. The SP is also being propelled by new investors coming on board after a couple of road shows and the momentum built up by a breakout after a long down phase..

And the breakout continues. This share has shown considerable strength since it broke out of the downtrend. Positive news will see this fly - and there is plenty to come.
Anyone else in these?

do not have these, but looking at my comments, it good to see that the 120 resistance has been broken ...... if sp holds, then this will then form a solid support
by the way, UMN has similarly broken a stubborn resistance

i read that too ...... one of these days i may have to invest in some proper software so i can set up things like time angles etc etc on charts rather than having to rely on my m8 to do it for me ...... PFC is a prime example; sp is racing away, but i have no sophisticated chart to help my decisions

Time to bring this thread back into view. Yesterday's update on reserves estimates has given the sp another boost. Onwards and upwards.

very nice so far do you think the 10 targets on the other side are too optimistic? The reserves are massive but it has to be produced.

Ultimately 10 is on - but it's a long way down the road. This is going to rise in fits and starts based on news and operational updates. Talking of which, we should be due another one soon.
My own target is for 2.00 plus by Christmas - no ramp intended.

My son is a 27 yr old officer in the Army leaving in Nov--07 and wants to go into the City. He needs to find out more about specific areas such as broking or trading so he can target his job hunting efforts. Can anyone help a bright and ambitious young man with a shadow day or advice?

It is all about potential in oil-rich Kazakhstan
By Robert Orr
Published: April 7 2007 03:00 | Last updated: April 7 2007 03:00
Max Petroleum is the best known Aim-listed exploration company operating in the oil-rich central Asian republic of Kazakhstan. Floated 18 months ago by Cazenove, Max's portfolio of assets includes the Astrakhanskiy field and an 80 per cent interest in blocks A&E and East Alibek in Kazakhstan's Precaspian Basin. Critically for companies operating in the region, Max's well-regarded management team is boosted by Kazakh nationals, while its finances are on a secure footing. The company had $71m (36m) of cash at its latest set of accounts in December, while it also sells a small amount of oil to local markets. The coming months are likely to bring a flurry of drilling updates, although the full exploration of Max's portfolio would likely to be in partnership with an oil major. Chevron, BG Group and Russia's Gazprom are seen as potential suitors. Excitement about Max's potential has seen the shares rise 70 per cent in just two months, to a high of 157p. Cazenove believes that on a sum-of-the-parts basis the shares are worth 360p. Despite a strong run, this stock remains a "buy". Robert Orr
