RBS is another share bet I hold. (Small amounts only.) I bought another small holding at the close with a closer stop than for my previous holds.

I wanted to place regression channels, but find it a little difficult on MM charts. To me these show over relativel orderly downtrend for about 4mths and a reversal starting 4/1/10.

Today open up with slightly lower close but on low volume.

I find fundamentals of banks impossible to me to really understand, but guess the short term sp is up, with medium term slowing.

Worth a look with 15% trailing stop.

i think RBS is a good bet, albeit that there's resistance at 40 (200 dma)

ptholden - 14 Jan 2010 20:54 - 38 of 3532

GF, I'll try and post some stuff up next month, perhaps FX and Indicies I haven't really traded shares for a considerable period of time, but will be taking another look this year.

goldfinger - 15 Jan 2010 01:07 - 39 of 3532

Cheers Pth, I look forward to it.

Fred another corker of a chart sorry charts. Used to be well into Gann and Elliot light moons away but need to recharge my batteries in that field.

cheers.

Hi stuartth1309 ,

you asked how should the thread be run earlier today. its up to the individual but I reckon the way I will go about it will be to bring up charts that I notice on stock trawls or screeners like the oily one today, bang it down here as quick as possible for debate etc, and at the same time copy the chart to the individual stock thread.

A bit of fundies can be used to back up.

I think the last thing we want to do here is to operate a site within a site like for example pauly pilots pub on the Motley Fool.

Thats not the idea of the thread but a thread for all who are interested in TA and want to share ideas. Beginners most welcome but dont want to turn into into an advisory thread like fingers thread on advfn.

Its for an exchange in ideas to help collectively to make a few bob. Any links eg, bar chart site can be used as long as we are not upsetting the mam management.

cheers.

Invensys ISYS looks like we could have a good run up to trading statement next Friday the 22/1.

Sp attacked resistance at 312p and finally overcame at the fourth attempt, the resistance now turned support which looks rather bullish to me.

invensys%202.JPG

SP target former resistance at 350p and then 400p...........

Same Oily screener as yesterday but an early bird look at whats moving before the daily herd get in.

only 3 so far.

cynic - 15 Jan 2010 10:08 - 43 of 3532

personally, i wouldn't touch any of those as horribly small caps and thus (almost certainly) liquidity ...... surprised you haven't posted VGM which continues headlong into the the heavens - at least for the moment

Balerboy - 15 Jan 2010 10:16 - 44 of 3532

sour grapes comes to mind...

goldfinger - 15 Jan 2010 10:33 - 45 of 3532

Cyners can only post what the screener brings up based on the data fields I have set ie, mkt cap between 10 and 700 million, beta 1 or less, sp gains 1 day 7 day and 1 month, sp increase of 1% on a daily basis to capture stocks getting off to a good opening to the day.

Obviously this criteria is going to throw some speculative stocks up with wide spreads, but just look at the monthly gains.

cynic - 15 Jan 2010 10:37 - 46 of 3532

i shall resist the obvious retort(s)

Goldy,

Interested in posting 45.

Are you using any other filters?

What I think may be interesting is thoughts (guesses) on Targets and stop losses at time of posting charts.

Also, how do you edit your main MM Graph.

Also is in possible to have title of indicators on the individual and main charts.

Notice main chart doesn't place or specify details of the moving averages and many don't use default values.

Nice thread though. Thank you.

goldfinger - 15 Jan 2010 12:52 - 49 of 3532

Hi Fred,

using other filters do you mean by that screens????

Ive got one for small/medium caps in general

one for large caps,

and another for bombed out 100% losers from the credit crunch.

I did have 12 screens in total during the spring/ summer to capture early movement of stocks in differing sectors at any one time eg, land and property screener gave out some excelent candidates and made quite a few bob from them.

Caught the movers right from the open of the market but youl know you have to be carefull in that first 45 mins.

Mostly all of them set up to capture momentum in the aftermath of the credit crunch although in september I was putting a couple more together based on value and growth with forward P/Es and cash prelevant.

Problem is Digital Look have made the full screener a premium tool now Novemberish I think) and you are left with the smart screener which isnt bad but nowhere near as detailed as the full screener.

Those who had established screens like myself could keep them so thats a plus.

See what you mean about lower indicators without the title on them. Tend to use firstly volume followed by MACD (sometimes stots) and then ATC as last one so that I can see what present volatility of stock is. (not a big fan of volatility when trading short term but use it a lot when im in intraday mode)

Moving averages again not clear is it which ones im using but I always stick to EMA 25 50 and 200 here, replacing 25 with 20 over the road.

As for editing the Money am charts I take it you mean trend lines/ resistance and support lines , and comment on these and lower indictators super imposed onto the charts??????.

If Ive got time tomorrow or sunday Ill do a post showing how its done, all free by the way and where you can get an uploader.

Hope that helps Fred but get back if you have anymore queries cheers gf.

Ps, ill post the other screeners up now that I have, not sure today that theres gong to be that many stocks and I can use this to gauge the market and the sectors.

goldfinger - 15 Jan 2010 13:02 - 50 of 3532

Re- to full screener, ignore what Ive said above its still free on Digital look, theyve just moved the page around and I couldnt find it. Heres the data fields you can use.......

well its the link page, not sure itl work if your not a member (which is free, just sign up)

http://www.digitallook.com/cgi-bin/dlmedia/stock_screener.cgi?screener=full&username=article&ac=208555&user_tool_option_id=&ms_scope=&save_settings_label=&action=screener&country_id=1

Balerboy - 15 Jan 2010 13:13 - 51 of 3532

you'll have to give me your user name and password to see it.............i won't tell anyone else... honest. lol

goldfinger - 15 Jan 2010 13:25 - 52 of 3532

Heres the other screens I use daily...

small/medium caps

today 2.5% Sp inc, 7 day inc 5%, 15p min, 10-300 mkt cap, forward P/E 1to 14

screener%203.JPG

large caps

mkt cap min 301 mil, sp 250p to 1200p, todays sp gain 1, weekly gain 5, beta 1 or less, No P/Es attached. Momentum only.

screener%206.JPG

Bombed out credit crunch stocks

90% bombed out with sp momentum, today 1%, weekly 4% sp min 10p.

screener%207.JPG

Obviously on good days theres a lot more stocks on the lists .

Fred1new - 15 Jan 2010 15:25 - 53 of 3532

GF, Thanks. I will have a closer look at the information a little later.

I have used Sharescope since it commenced and generally feel at ease with it.

They use the term filtering for screening.

To a certain degree it is what you get use to and prepared to put the work into.

In that I am relatively new to leverage betting I have to be v. careful and use while using the intra-day graphs of Sharescope, find CMC's intra-day current min prices useful.

A couple of charts I will try to post up at the weekend are 2 EFTs IbZL and FXC

I think they are trade-able as medium term? as shares as they keep to an orderly channel but are dangerous ar leverage bets (etc,) because of high intra day ATR. Their spread can also wander, but they are liquid. (So far.)

Have good day and leave a few scraps on the table.

goldfinger - 15 Jan 2010 16:10 - 54 of 3532

cheers Fred.

Fred1new - 16 Jan 2010 13:58 - 55 of 3532

I would be a little hesitant with Weatherstone as there was a pile of director sales 478-515p and no subsequent buying. Also the price has dropped back or poised around or below resistance line.

This might be useful.
