SWW, i take it then you are not short anything on your watchlist!

have a lovely walk....

gavdfc - 22 Mar 2005 09:29 - 3604 of 7811

No problems Dave. Just me doing some thinking out loud! Seems to be a bit of a quieter day for some oils today. I wonder if we will see some more side stories over the coming months/years!

mickeyskint - 22 Mar 2005 10:00 - 3605 of 7811

Like SWW a red day allround for me. I thought this might happen when I saw where the markets closed across the pond. Don't short.

it really is a crappy day all round. 2nd liners all taking a breather. agree about not being short, can snap back in an instant. make sure that you don't hold some of the s**t that has floated in the last few months...that will be shaken out

gavdfc - 22 Mar 2005 10:13 - 3607 of 7811

I just hope that some of the garbage that has recently been floated doesn't have a negative impact on the sector as a whole. White Bile springs to mind. A lot of people may get badly burned on that one.

mickeyskint - 22 Mar 2005 10:16 - 3608 of 7811

I'm not into new floats. I know I've missed out but I like to be on safer ground. Track record and management performance is a big influence in my decision making. It still hasn't stopped me buying a few dogs though.

Not too keen on some new floats in this sector either Mickey. Too many of them stating stuff like "we have this field containing Xmmbl" etc etc etc. How many of them have any track record and some of them seem an age away from drilling. Even those relatively close to drilling, can they really fund it? No doubt some of them will over time do okay, however some will end up a disaster IMO.

seawallwalker - 22 Mar 2005 11:07 - 3611 of 7811

I like dogs.

mickeyskint - 22 Mar 2005 11:13 - 3612 of 7811

I agree gav, me too SWW. Camilla'a a cracker.

Andy - 22 Mar 2005 11:13 - 3613 of 7811

Gav,

thanks for posting that article.

All red on my monitor today, except MKS, where I have a short position!

proptrade - 22 Mar 2005 11:13 - 3614 of 7811

thats a whole different issue SWW!

classic case is COIL. used to be Silvermines, looking to invest in media companies, now is linked to Cambrian buying resources! funny thing is though i do fancy their chances...how sucked in am i to all this crap!

dust will settle soon and the quality will shine through (like gems - lol, had to add that!)

seawallwalker - 22 Mar 2005 11:19 - 3615 of 7811

One hopes so prop.

dave dazzler has shown me over the last 18 months that things usually get better if you hold long enough in stock with propects.

seawallwalker - 22 Mar 2005 11:22 - 3616 of 7811

Right then,. time to clear the decks and prepare the ingredents for dinner.

Only a stir fry chicken today, nowt exciting

Andy - 22 Mar 2005 11:24 - 3617 of 7811

SWW,

" things usually get better if you hold long enough in stock with propects."

VERY wise words IMHO!

proptrade - 22 Mar 2005 11:41 - 3618 of 7811

i so so agree. i know these are hardly Buffet value stocks but the principle of holding for the long term as a quality stock has to be the best strategy.

daves dazzlers - 22 Mar 2005 13:04 - 3619 of 7811

Something just fell on me head {its ok its only jsp} ouch me head..

Fundamentalist - 22 Mar 2005 13:08 - 3620 of 7811

daves dazzlers - 22 Mar 2005 13:16 - 3621 of 7811

mickeyskint - 22 Mar 2005 13:30 - 3622 of 7811

For those of you looking for that little gem that's going to make you rich. Well read this taken from Shares. "We worry that the winds of good fortune are blowing so strong for the oil exploration companies that even the turkeys may get off the ground. The critical, time-comsuming challenge for the investors is to differentiate between the turkeys and the exploration minnows with real assets and upside potential".
There are a few being pushed on the boards at the moment, so DYOR. Want my advice, you won't get any better than SEY.
And remember where there is oil there is gas and lots of it. The LNG industry is going to be huge. Shell are making a massive investment in a new plant in Qatar. Tankers are being ordered and built, and on shore storage sites being constructed. This will be the next oil. So look at HMY and STAR.
