KC connects eco friendly intelligent street lightsWEBWIRE Thursday, July 02, 2009
Kingston Communications has provided the wireless technology within a unique street lighting central monitoring system which is set to revolutionise the street lighting industry.
In the first contract of its kind for Kingston Communications (KC), the communications experts have partnered with Harvard Engineering from Beeston in Leeds to provide the data communication for its LeafNut technology which allows street lights to be operated and managed remotely with a PC or laptop.
This appears to be the sort of technology that could lead to many more contracts.

Weird action this am.
Opened at Sell 27.00p Buy 29.50.
Spread narrowed greatly to now Sell 28.50p Buy 28.75p.
But tempting who, Buyers or Sellers, to my mind it looks like sellers (don't have L2 at present so difficult to be sure).

At last a choice for Hull and Beverley KC customers.
Kingston Communications have decided to allow (isn't that nice of them) their Hull and Beverley fixed line telephone customers, a choice of changing their provider to Nexus Telephone company. This will be the first time that there has been a choice.
This news was released this am, on local BBC news.
Surely this should have been released via a RNS, as to me it is sp sensitive.
Also is this a further move prior to a possible takeover.
I can not find any other info re this, or have I missed something.

At 0953 hrs today an O trade of 4,703,236 shares went through at mid price with the bid offer improving a couple of ticks later. Looked like a buy to me and not a bad amount either. Interesting!
Also is this just the start....Hull man no longer relying on KCom for broadband

Nordcaperen,
Could this be what you were talking about.
RNS, re Aberforth Partners LLP.
Increased holding from 27,234,861 shares to 51,819,930, almost a doubling of shares held. Not an insignificant amount of increase which crosses the 10% threshold.
Lets just hope there is something solid behind the buy, and they don't just hold for the short term.
Not that happy when 10% of a company is held by any single organisation, even if the holding is split between 4 independent institutions. But on the surface it does look positive.
Also....Just noticed a trade of 3,150,000 went through at 1020hrs but was only reported at 1 minute before close.
Looking at the prices around that time it looks like a buy.
Something in the wind, or just the usual fun and games.

Greekman, on the 9th June Aberforth Partners held 58.8 million shares so somewhere along the line they disposed of some 27 million and now repurchased most of them back. I never saw any RNS showing the disposal though.

Optomistic,
Can't find anything re disposal by Aberforth Partners either.
Not doubting you, just wondering where you found the info.
regards Greek.

Greekman,
Holding figures from the KCOM website, the 'major shareholders' list was way out of date so I emailed them and asked for it to be updated which they duly did but only up to the 9th June.

Optomistic,
Sorry to be a pain but can't find it on the KC site (a bit technophobic). I even put Major Shareholders into the search box with no result.
Can you assist as if what you say is correct, KC should have put out a RNS, and as they did not I intend to report them to the LSE. But obviously to do so I need to find it on their web site.
Could you possibly paste the link.

Greekman,
I can't get the page link to work so the progression to the Major Shareholders is:
Investor center
Company profile
Share composition
Major shareholders
It is well buried away.
btw. Aberforth was shown as holding 27.2 million 5.2% on the 31 May 2007 (the previous update)
....one or two small edits on the way here:-)

skinny/Greekman, I could paste the link when using IE 7 but am now on Firefox and it wouldn't do it, Firefox is quicker than IE. It is new to me so maybe I will find a way to paste links soon.

Optomistic,
Found it via Skinny's link, (thanks Skinny) as you say well hidden.
I have sent the following e-mail to KC and will post any reply.
Yesterday 01.09.09 an RNS was released stating that Aberforth Partners LLP had increased their holdings from 27,234,861 to 51,819,930 which crossed the 10% threshold. As the KC website states that on 9th June 2009 Aberforth Partners holdings were 58,825,080 a threshold of 11% it appears that no RNS was released when their holdings were reduced to 27,234,861 from 58,825,080.
Before I consider taking this further with the LSE I would like to give your company the opportunity to explain the lack of an RNS re the reduction

As KC have not had the decency to reply to my e-mail, today I informed the LSE of the lack of an RNS when Aberforth reduced their holdings by almost the same amount as when they increased them.
Is it a case of releasing an RNS on good news but not so on bad?
I will post any result.

O2 linked to fixed line purchase.
KC in the frame?
http://www.mobilenewscwp.co.uk/News/316648/o2_linked_to_fixed_line_purchase.html
Kingston Communications current market cap value is 143.36 million, so if the articles figures are correct that the purchase value is around 400 million, then it looks like we might get somewhere near 80p a share.
No doubt if there is any substance in the article we should see the sp start to move sooner than later.
