Media Corp (Gaming Corpoartion GMC)Attracting Some Big Names. (MDC)

goldfinger - 05 Dec 2003 00:33

Up nearlly 15% today and I beleive there could be more to come.

Evil Knievil has tipped it on EvilCast and has bought in 100,000 worth of stock a notifiable interest. He rates the management very highly and says they are attracting all the big bookmakers to the online casino site including punters the likes of William Hill, Chandler, and Ladbrokes. The company are now running at a profit every month and should break into a yearly profit from the years previous loss very soon. The company also ownes in partnership with a Swiss firm Boss another casino site and by all accounts that is doing well.

Im looking at this one as a momentum play pretty high risk as there are competitors out there but I feel the management will give it the edge.

Please DYOR, and remember you are responsible for your own buying and selling actions.

cheers GF.

I wonder if internet sites ever suffer from high roller successes or bad debt,as did Stanley Leisure and London Clubs, last year. Are they protected from bad debts by their membership rules and membership fees? How can they estimate future profits if the calculations are based on gambler's luck?
Not trying to put this down,am seriously interested in buying some of these if I feel sure of certain facts.
I agree with you,Mickeyskint.

I was sitting in a library in Chichester having purchased 1 hour of computer time and was busy trying to answer jimmyb's question to me personally about the real value of GMC. It gave me a message that I had 1 minute left which took some getting rid of - in fact, by the time I had got rid of it time was up and my answer was lost! lol!

Back home now, I see there have been some very good questions asked. Super point I read recently that it is more important to ask good questions than give good answers! A successful scientist was asked why he had become a scientist rather than a lawyer, accountant or doctor. He answered that, whereas his friends' parents always asked whether they had answered the questions well, his Mum asked whether he had asked any good questions today! As a result he had become a Scientist. I like that!

wrt GMC, the questions posed can't be answered with any precision, can they? mickeyskint's post was very good: what it does is put forward a proposition which makes sense of the facts available. ethel's question is more factual, i.e. what about bad debt protection?: income is made up of a multiplicity of relatively small stakes and income from 'clicks', so the variance from probability is likely to be negligible. The other question that one can answer with some confidence is 'why did the Drummonds sell'? OK, to create more liquidity is part of their stated justification, but the share issue did that anyway. My answer is that they are gamblers at heart and wanted to cash some of their chips! So Justin realises 1million whilst he has warrants to an equivalent value to keep a significant stake on the table! Jolly sensible and just how I have handled SEO, for instance (didn't get in low enough with GMC, unfortunately). The other question which may be answerable is that relating to MM games. They make decisions based on what we can see, in this case, far more buys and sells, and their own positions: stock in hand and, I suspect significantly, their knowledge of guaranteed postions and large trades (etc.?). Quite reasonable that they should also want to shake the trees. What I observed is that they were more successful in shaking out sales by taking the price off its uptrend than they had been by increasing it in the first place! Sounds eminently sensible tactics, although I would like to know more about the theories they are practising.

The 'unanswerable' questions relate to future sp (when over 20p again?) and real worth of the company. Because it is a gambling-based company they are making gambles with the cash they have called down, e.g. acquisitions. How well will they use their funds? I expect they will be weighing their actions right now. How well are their existing stakes going; the casino site and the new poker portal? What is competition doing? What about the US market now they have a Canadian based advisor. What we can say is that there is now a good support level in place at 14p; that they are generating cash; that they have the top casino portal according to hitwise; that there is institutional demand at 14p. That says to me that they are a sound bet at 15.5p with limited downside and potential of very good upside; moreover Evil K is long in them (he is normally shorting my investments!). Not a 'safe' investment to lock away, but an exciting ride and could be a multi-bagger from here. My stake at 25% of my portfolio (via CFDs) is the highest risk element in my portfolio but I anticipate it will also be the biggest winner (there's a challenge for you, SEO). Hope this helps.

I think they know exactly where the money is going. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not already spent. I could just do with 10 mil. I'd have the rust spots done on the car. Any predictions for the sp say 6 months?

MS

sharewinners - 07 Mar 2005 17:37 - 374 of 1117

45-55p is my guess in 6 months time but thats conservative my minimum

mickeyskint - 07 Mar 2005 17:39 - 375 of 1117

Now that would be nice.

sharewinners - 07 Mar 2005 17:42 - 376 of 1117

its not going below 14p the institutions will just snap them up at that price they already have 10 million pounds worth they will want atleast a bagger before they part with any that puts us on 28p with news thrown in aquisition or expansion another 15p+

lymington - 07 Mar 2005 19:05 - 377 of 1117

Institutions paid 110p for BPRG,it didnt stop the share from falling to 60p in a very short period.I hope they do move up from here, there is supposed to be news this week.

squidd - 07 Mar 2005 21:25 - 378 of 1117

Lymington: In case you are from Lymington, the next meeting of the investors club is on Wednesday 16th March at 7:30pm at the community centre. All welcome and you will find at least one other GMC investor there.

you are not the only one i am also livimg in hope for 20p+,GOOD LUCK.

BANKONE - 08 Mar 2005 20:30 - 381 of 1117

Please - Can anyone put one of those charts up that shows moving averages and the like, similar to the one on the SPS Topic. The 14p support level is interesting - Where is the confidence that it won't go below it. How regularly do hitwise reveal the statistics and does anyone know the latest. I am too a little confused about the 71.5.million shares. Surely a massive dilution and will they all be snapped up to enable the 10million quid to be used effectively.

EWRobson - 08 Mar 2005 21:17 - 382 of 1117

BANKONE: Paulo quoted last week's hitwise figures so hopefully he can quote this week's. If it were possible to transfer the chart, then it is automatically updated here each week which would be helpful. 14p is level at which shares have been placed. A pretty strong support level, but not absolute, of course, viz a viz BPRG, AZM among others. Depends on whether the expectations raised at the time of placing are fulfilled. 30% of total share cap. but depends how effectively it is used. Those of us who bought at 20p are more seriously diluted in that real progress probably won't be quite so meteoric. Given the market they are in the cap. could quite easily double very quickly. Its worth reading post 361 again - the argument is that it is better to make acquisitions with cash than shares; get a better deal; may not otherwise get a deal if other company directors wan't cash for their efforts rather than paperwork which they don't control. If any are worried about their purchase price of 22p, say, but thing 15p a good price, then the answer is to average down, surely.

Just realised that GMC's broker Canaccord is also the firm that introduced NLR to Aim. Hopefully they've got an eye for a good company in the gaming sector!!

The Drummonds haven't got a perfect track-record, but surely even they can't f*** up with poker.

Yes, they've pocketed a few quid but the potential with this outfit could be huge. Let's hope they want a fleet of Rollers instead of just the one.

My only real concern is if they go off and buy a casino or poker club which then goes into private hands while us shareholders pick up the pieces of a well-ramped shell.
