Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Harry, target prices always get lowered when dilution happens, so my 20 by Xmas 2011 now dilutes down to 13.20 by Xmas 2011.

Those with the 35p target are just plain liars !

aldwickk, grow up, you missed out, get over it.

3D Seismic Programme Contract

Rockhopper Exploration plc (AIM: RKH), the North Falkland Basin oil and gas exploration company, is pleased to announce the formal signing of a contract for marine seismic acquisition services with Polarcus Limited for the use of the seismic vessel MV Polarcus Asima.

Under the contract Rockhopper will acquire a 3D seismic survey over areas of licences PL032 and PL033 (100% Rockhopper) which were not previously defined by 3D, as well as adjacent areas. The vessel will be available to commence the seismic survey by early January 2011, and the time required to shoot the survey within the licence area is estimated to be approximately 50 days.

Yes, looks like RKH will sign one contract with ARG as partner for the north of the North.

Another one to follow jointly with DES for the south of the North.

I will bleet this one more time as his has not been broght up on any other thread.......sea lion fan has between 5 to 8 stacked fans.....hence they need extra 3D.......

Proselenes - 21 Oct 2010 08:09 - 3660 of 6294

The stacked 8 fans has been mentioned a few times on III and AFN.

Tremendous upside.

Well pro it only came out last Tuesday at the private presentation for GEO held in London and I havent seen it brought up but am not a member of ADVFN.

Could have a huge impact on the share price if there are 8huge..... but 3D will identify this question once and for all and the rest of the fan which is not identified and missing.

Pro

I don't call selling at 536p missing out and first lot i bought at 40 i made a 100% profit in less then 2 weeks.

How much profit [ cash ] have you banked ?

cynic - 21 Oct 2010 08:44 - 3663 of 6294

don't care at what price you bought, but selling at least some at 536 to crystalise profit has to have been a smart move

markymar - 21 Oct 2010 08:52 - 3664 of 6294

Look at this way marky, the world and his dog in the media has now said RKH only has 170m barrels, so its all "new" news again when it gets upgraded after seismic and appraisal drilling.

The boat just contracted has just been delivered, its brand new and state of the art. The imaging they will get this time should be superb and far better than anything they have so far.

This means better definition and also, I would suspect, upgrades based purely on the seismic work are possible on their own, let alone the appraisal drilling.

Fuelling The Dragon - China's Growing Appetite For Oil

Friday, October 22, 2010

As one of the world's fastest growing nations, China needs energy to fuel its expansion onto the world stage. After all, it has bona fide plans of becoming a global economic power over the next few years. In light of this, the continued rise of the Asian nation remains pivotal to global oil demand. China may continue to sit behind the gas guzzling US at current, as the world's second largest consumer of oil, but it is certainly playing catch-up.

Indeed, China's oil consumption is growing by 7.5% on a yearly basis and an incredible seven times faster than the US. And this trend is showing no signs of slowing: Chinese crude oil import rose to a record high last month. According to Chinese trade data, 5.683 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude were imported in September alone. This strong Chinese demand is setting 2010 up to become the second strongest year for global oil demand growth over the past 30 years, according to Barclays Capital forecasts.

A spike in the price of crude is bound to come as demand increases.

cynic - 24 Oct 2010 16:36 - 3672 of 6294

excellent and somewhat sobering long article in ST on whole FI scenario

Proselenes - 24 Oct 2010 23:42 - 3673 of 6294

cynic, but it is written by someone who was apparently with the "oil will never be found" crowd, and that crowd has been very very spectacularly wrong by the Sea Lion find.

You will notice that the article lightly breezes over RKH and says it could be on to very big things and concentrates on FOGL and DES really.

Hypocrisy is everywhere.

You will notice the people that slate relative shallow oil, offshore, British Territorial waters, Falklands..............

Are the same people who get all excited and hype up DEEP water, offshore, GAS, in AFRICA that has NO INFRASTRUCTURE.

Pure hypocrisy, but they only pump where they or their friends have their money, and for many a banker that is presently Africa.

cynic - 25 Oct 2010 08:21 - 3674 of 6294

hypocritical it isn't; it's someone with a pretty sober view who tells it like it is, that happens to be at variance with what you and many others like to imagine ...... you don't have to agree with that view any more than anyone has to wear rose-tinted specs

required field - 25 Oct 2010 08:31 - 3675 of 6294

Steady on...offshore Tanzania they have discoverd trillions of cubic feet of top notch quality gas !.
