Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

From the ft.com

SMALL CAPS:Market report

Falklands explorer Desire Petroleum was marked 13.2 per cent lower at 71p following negative weekend press comment and concerns about the sidetrack well that the company is drilling at its Rachel prospect.

Rockhopper Exploration, which has a small stake in the Rachel well, fell 6.2 per cent to 310p, leaving its shares below the 315p issue price at which it recently raised 206m via a cash call.

Looks like DES will announce a duster later today or very soon, so some mad people have been selling out of RKH below the placing price, they must be mad.......

cynic - 26 Oct 2010 08:27 - 3683 of 6294

i am now out of these even though it meant taking a bit of a knock ..... if DES beats the odds, then i shall be delighted especially for Marky

Graph looks terrible here....

aldwickk - 26 Oct 2010 10:12 - 3685 of 6294

Not 300p yet ?

cynic - 26 Oct 2010 10:15 - 3686 of 6294

aldo - think sp briefly touched that yesterday, so you were too slow!

HARRYCAT - 26 Oct 2010 11:43 - 3687 of 6294

Am thinking that a DES duster has got to be a good buying opportunity in RKH. Can't decide where to put my 'limit buy' price though. Am assuming much of the assumed DES duster is now priced in, so maybe 280 ish??? Or is that being greedy?

Has Pro bought another 850,000

markymar - 26 Oct 2010 16:07 - 3690 of 6294

Been double the buys to sells so far today.

halifax - 26 Oct 2010 16:11 - 3691 of 6294

marky if DES has another duster where will the sp fall to, 250p perhaps?

yuff - 26 Oct 2010 16:26 - 3692 of 6294

Who says DES has a duster-too early. If they do I see 2.50 as support. However many will get out and take what profit is left. Its dwindling every day now on uncertainty.

markymar - 26 Oct 2010 16:32 - 3693 of 6294

You should be able to find out in a couple of days Hal.......she will fall like a lead balloon on news of a duster, you should be able to pick some up between 20p and 30p I would of thought!! there still drilling so may not be a dusterwho knows but am happy sitting on the fence watching and waiting.

halifax - 26 Oct 2010 16:35 - 3694 of 6294

marky 20-30p a bit harsh, but if that happens where will RKH's sp fall to?

Haystack - 26 Oct 2010 16:43 - 3695 of 6294

250p

markymar - 26 Oct 2010 16:52 - 3696 of 6294

Sorry Hal i was taking about Desire there at 20 to 30p

RKH have found oil Desire havent as of yet, so it will fall in sympathy like all the other Falkland oily stocks but I cant see it going down much as you cant take the 170 mm barrels away and they have over 200 million sitting in the bank.

I think its even possible RKH will get the rig back off DES earlier than first thought as Desire will want to analyse as much of the data possible before wondering where to drill as they are running out of suitable targets to drill at present.

markymar - 26 Oct 2010 17:02 - 3697 of 6294

The city boys bought in at 3.15p and it was over subscribed so am a little surprised to see it at 3.00 I put a buy order in a last week which I cancelled due to me not been comfortable with things and thought it might fall further.

Waiting for News on Desire and will buy again on any good fall and top up.

RKH is my bigggest holding at present.

cynic - 26 Oct 2010 17:06 - 3698 of 6294

from your comments young marky, i guess you still (now?) think the chances of DES finding anything are increasingly remote

markymar - 26 Oct 2010 17:38 - 3699 of 6294

Every chance Cynic.life has taught me you just dont know what round the corner,
They have 3 more holes to drill after Rachel its very early days in exploration.

So am just taking a breather on this one for now.
