With video search set to be the next big growth area BLNX have the software the likes of Microsoft, Google and NewsCorp would love to have.

In fact BLNX have done deals with most of these, the most recent being the UtargetFox deal which has been reported in the USA but not RNS'd in the UK.

Alexa rankings confirm the continued growth in usage as its viral effect spreads:-

The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

Tabby,
when I lived in Canada , my best mates sister was the Ontario Junior Riding Champion.
I tried to be friendly to the horse, alas I don't think it liked me. When I went to give it a friendly pat, it suddenly raised its head and practically knocked me out cold! I won't be in a hurry to try it again!

Chess...a well known trainer once tried to get me on a Hunter...he said it was 17 hands...I said it would need 17 legs under 2ft long to get me on it...I rode a pony on Weston super mare beech when I was ten...does that count?

Irish jockey just recently got killed when thrown into a concrete post...they are very nervy animals...

chessplayer - 24 Mar 2011 16:43 - 3690 of 6187

I take it that you didn't get on the hunter. I can't say that I blame you.For me, I think that a donkey would be more than enough!

YouView has not been without its problems of late, with massive delays (as exclusively revealed on Pocket-lint), a change in its management team in the form of Sir Alan Sugar replacing Kip Meek as non-executive chairman, and constant scrutinisation by Ofcom. However, none of these have scared off potential partners, as the venture, previously known as Project Canvas, has revealed that it is now working with 29 leading content and tech service providers.

The forthcoming subscription-TV platform invited "expressions of interests" last autumn, and out of the many applications it has chosen the following to work closer with:

On-demand content providers Blinkbox, Blinkx, BSkyB, Film4oD, Golant Media Ventures, Guardian News & Media, IndieMoviesOnline, Lovefilm, Pushbutton, Radioplayer, Stream UK, STV, Travel Channel, Tvinci, UTV and woomi are on board, with BSkyB being, perhaps, the most surprising on the list due to its former famed resistance to the venture.

In addition, Alcatel-Lucent, Blinkx, Capablue, Deluxe, easeltv, IMD, ioko, Kaltura, Nativ, Ooyala, Red Bee Media, Technicolor, TripleSEE and Twofour will advise on technology and service provision.

Presumably, when the service launches in February 2012, many of the above will be featured in the form of accessible apps. But it is, perhaps, the technological experience of the 29 organisations that will benefit YouView most.

The more astute will notice that Blinkx is listed twice, as both a content and service provider, and certainly Suranga Chandratillake, CEO, founder and friend to Pocket-lint, is thrilled to be working with the venture. He doesn't believe that the delays have hurt YouView at all, and that what his and other companies do now could help IPTV services around the globe: "Clearly, were delighted to have been selected for YouViews advisory groups on content and service delivery", he said.

"This is an opportunity to help define the future of television not just for the UK, but as a template for the rest of the world, and make standards based, open internet-connected TV a reality. Blinkx has built its business on understanding how to find and deliver video and TV content on the Web - were looking forward to assisting in the creation of a rich, diverse and interactive experience in YouView. Its an important time, and were up for the challenge.

cynic - 25 Mar 2011 16:43 - 3693 of 6187

previous best was 102.0, though these closing prices can be a bit suspect - but a move in the right direction at least

Nice to see it close above a quid - a bit more volume would be more convincing though.

Some pretty good buying this morning, perhaps partly due to reaching new highs. At any rate, a good sign.

Chess...join me in feeling a little smug...we are owed it!

chessplayer - 04 Apr 2011 12:34 - 3699 of 6187

Tabby,
I could never understand where all the sceptics came from. But, I guess it soon became clear that they were working on an entirely different game plan.

Isn't it a dirty rotten shame that a good few of them got their fingers burned!

I suppose that the big question now has to be " Where is the share going from here ?"

Part , or maybe most , of the reason for the reason for the recent rise is probably down to the boom in online advertising.

According to figures recently released by the I A B ( Internet Advertising Bureau), the value of online advertising in the U K for 2010 has reached 4.1 billion. This is not far short of the 4.28 billion attributed to TV advertising.

The above figures are from an article in last Friday's Investor's Chronicle. They also go on to re-iterate their buy recommendation for Blinkx
