Storming finish on the US markets.
S@P closed well above the 1150 resistance which should
now turn into support.
FTSE is bound to open higher tomorrow so the threat of
breaking below the last swing low at 4430 is removed
for the moment.
If FTSE breaks 4480, and I don't see why it shouldn't,
that will break the highs of last Friday and today(Monday)
and should set us off on a new attack higher.
FTSE has been through 4500 twice now, so it shouldn't
prove to be a psychological barrier this time around.
Once something has been done it's a lot easier the next time.
Same as anything in life, really.
I don't know why the FTSE is below 4500 with the US where it is.
It should be attacking 4600, not 4500.
Perhaps there has been a forced seller. I did read rumours in the press
that Standard Life was selling hard to shore up it's balance sheet
for the FSA prior to a possible Market Float to raise money.
But that's all it was, rumours.
Doesn't look like like I'll get GSK at 1150 this time around, I'll
have to make do with what I've got and look for something else to put
some more money into.
LGEN might be worth a look at to play catch-up after the Politicians
have had a crack at it tomorrow for endowment mis-selling.
Punters might lose money, but I doubt LGEN will lose much, and
it may just provide enough market noise to give a good entry point.

"Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN), the broadband satellite operator, announced today (17.11.08) that it has entered into a long-term strategic partnership for the management of HYLAS traffic with BT Group plc.
Avanti has contracted BT Business to provide satellite network services for its HYLAS satellite, due for launch in 2009. BT Business will use its existing Goonhilly satellite uplinking facility to transfer all traffic between the HYLAS satellite and the Internet. Goonhilly is historically one of the most important satellite teleports in the country with more than 40 years of unrivalled experience. Goonhilly is connected via BT Business' highly resilient fibre network to the major internet nodes in London, which gives Avanti access to excellent internet connectivity. The two companies have also agreed to collaborate on certain opportunities to potentially deploy satellite broadband services.
Associated with the transaction, Avanti will also receive 1.5m of funding from the South West Regional Development Agency ('SWERDA') as a contribution to the planned investment required in operating from the facility in Cornwall and related to the local jobs created and safeguarded through this new venture."

"Avanti Communications Group Plc (AIM: AVN), the satellite operator has been notified by the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment that it intends to award the contract for supply of remote broadband services in Northern Ireland to Avanti, subject to the mandatory two week standstill period, a standard practice in government procurement. The contract value is 1.1m, which covers the costs of installing and managing network infrastructure, with end user customers then paying ongoing monthly subscription charges worth approximately 450,000 per annum."

Since the publication of our detailed note on the 5th November this broadband satellite operator has signed a 3 year VNO contact with Digisat Media of Spain. This is the first contract that will use HYLAS capacity for the distribution of radio station content to local broadcast points across the country. Digisat works with both broadband and digital media applications and together with Avanti expects to generate significant additional business. Avanti will begin services for Digisat on its leased capacity, transferring to HYLAS after the summer 2010 launch. Our target price set at 718p remains unchanged as does our stance of buy.
