New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

Having put AMAZING into Google I found Amazing Grace,

Amazing Grace was written, With a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of the sins people commit and that the soul can be delivered from despair. A bit like BIOME annual reports.

Some of the lyrics from the hymn that could fit BIOME.

I was blind, but now I see (the share price).
Through many dangers, toils and snares (all those RNS promises)
The Lord has promised good to me (for Lord substitute the Board).
When we've been here ten thousand years (yes it feels like it).

So will look forward to those Amazing results with as much Grace as I can muster, which ain't much.

can anyone tell us why the forward movement in the share price at last.?

greekman - 28 Oct 2010 08:59 - 45 of 644

Hi Bestblinds,

I posted the following yesterday on a competitors site.

I admit to having done little but knock BIOM over the last few weeks, this has been down to still feeling angry at the way we were treated in the past by the management. That is probably some of the Drivel TruroBoy mentions.
I have decided that the past (hopefully) is just that, and therefore 'apologies' for many of my comments of late.
Perhaps the news that they have been recognized in Deloitte Technology Fast50 Awards Tuesday, 26th October 2010 as the second fastest growing Green Tech is encouraging, although they did drop so far down, the only way is up. That is not another moan just a fact.
So no more bashing posts from me, unless that is they go back to their old ways.
Once bitten twice shy as they say, but willing to give them another chance.
Perhaps they really have turned the corner. END

The bit about, 'They have been recognized in Deloitte Technology Fast50 Awards Tuesday, 26th October 2010 as the second fastest growing Green Tech' is probably responsible for the rise, along with the rumor that Walkers Crisps are interested in their packaging. I must state, this is only a rumor, doing the usual rounds. I hope it does not turn out to be another ASDA fiasco. Also of course there are the coming results which almost everyone is saying will be good, personally regarding the results, will wait and see.

regards Greek

Hi Greekman

I too have been in this share for years, and like many have a very large loss.
Our faith in the company looks like it may yet pay off.
You comments as to why the share is now on the move, was most wellcome.
Thank's

A find from the other side.
Bullion Vault .co.uk
Bioplastics concern Biome Technologies has reduced first-half losses 40 per cent to 1.7 million and sees growing interest from the USA.

The company says an apparent 17 per cent turnover fall to $6.7 million in the six months to June reflects a move from 100 per cent to 50 per cent consolidation of a joint venture, Biotec JV and explains turnover on a comparable basis showed a 40 per cent increase, with its Stanelco radio frequency side nearly doubling sales.

Chief executive officer Paul Mines says pending European Union legislation favouring disposable packaging continues to work for Biome, which moved from the Main Market to AIM last month after raising 2.7 million at a lowly 0.125p. He adds the company, which until recently was called Stanelco, is finding 18 months of effort in the US market is now 'bearing fruit' in the food services and food processing sectors across the Pond.

According to Mines, a new high temperature food packaging product has met a 'reasonable response' and should benefit Biome's second-half performance. He says interest is picking up from electronics and durables companies in casings made in bio-based materials, with makers of razors and other personal care items also inquiring.

Observers suggest the company, which mostly sells to smaller and medium-sized concerns keen to boost their brands, is understood to be holding product trials with more than one leading European electronics group. With 4.7 million cash at the end of June, Biome could be heading towards profitability in 2012, argue some analysts.

Biome shares, which traded above 4p 10 years ago in their old Stanelco guise, now languish at 0.13p. They have speculative recovery appeal for the bold.
