Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. in the centre, kiev has the appearance of a cosmopolitan city with a vibrant "cafe culture", but it is pure facade, and the cafes are empty as the locals have no money ..... st michael's monastery is truly wonderful too, but there is a fascinating and very sobering mural/history on its outside wall about stalin's "genocide by imposed famine" ..... no wonder the ukrainians don't like the russkies!
