Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

The news today is good for RKH in one large way.

Why ?

This charge in the lower fans is very bullish for RKH as they believe Sea Lion has 8 stacked fans, of which only 2 presently have been drilled into and both were charged with oil. That validates the scenario where RKH might have 700 million recoverable barrels with just Sea Lion.

If all the lower fans are charged with oil then things look very bullish for RKH, so todays news of lower fan oil shows is in fact nice for RKH and certainly at least interesting for DES.

Roll on Rachel-2, it might be commercial, you never know, but whatever, the more lower fans with oil shows the better for RKH up north !!

For DES, at least they have a sniff of oil now, move the rig and they might end up with their boots covered in oil with Rachel-2.

:)

Yep, lets see how far RKH goes. Somewhere around 260 ish would be good for an entry point.

Good for RKH but not at all good for DES...it's as if DES is doing RKH's work in findind the end limits of the field....to me it's another Desire disaster.....oil shows ?...you could drill anywhere int he north sea and come up with shows...long way from commercial.....

HARRYCAT - 02 Nov 2010 08:37 - 3860 of 6294

DES result certainly seen as a positive for RKH. Sp up 5%.

Proselenes - 02 Nov 2010 08:38 - 3861 of 6294

LOL.

You really do not know much about oil in the Falklands and the potential of RKH do you. Its obvious todays new is great for RKH and the lower fan potential of Sea Lion.

Really, if people cannot understand the news and what it means in the context of things, its best to remain quiet.

yes harry, just seen the jump up 14p, doesn't look much like 260p to me.,. suprised!!

HARRYCAT - 02 Nov 2010 08:41 - 3863 of 6294

If the well had been a complete failure, then the drop would have been inevitable. Yes I do understand the potential. Read my post in context, Really!!!!!!
Bb, yes I am surprised. DES must be disappointed, even though there is possible light at the end of the tunnel.

greekman - 02 Nov 2010 08:45 - 3864 of 6294

As they can't afford to have the rig just hanging around, I feel Des will drill the next well not too far away from the fist bore hole as quick as humanly possible.

I wonder what will happen if the next drilling finds oil and that it is migrated from the Rockhopper well.

That would put the proverbial cat well (no pun intended) among the pigeons.

Proselenes - 02 Nov 2010 08:52 - 3865 of 6294

greekman, there is a likely fault in between Rachel and Sea Lion, so the two are not going to be linked, but in history who knows ?

What this oil show does say is that the mature source rock has been generating lots of oil, and thats good for DES as well as RKH.

Proselenes - 02 Nov 2010 08:53 - 3866 of 6294

Notice the "DES is going to 50p" muppets are all now very quiet across the other BB's

They now nothing about oil or the Falklands and prove themselves to be dumb, stupid and very loud mouthed time after time.

Sad, but then, lots of sad people in this world, sadly.

required field - 02 Nov 2010 08:55 - 3867 of 6294

I t looks like Rockhopper have the oil and poor old Desire have not.

HARRYCAT - 02 Nov 2010 08:56 - 3868 of 6294

And if DES has struck absolutely nothing, what would you be saying Mr P? Probably, sadly, nothing???

required field - 02 Nov 2010 08:56 - 3869 of 6294

If they move the rig, you'll see perhaps 50p.....way overrated these falkland stocks....

Proselenes - 02 Nov 2010 09:01 - 3870 of 6294

RKH interest in this license is only 7.5%, so DES striking dusters has very little impact on RKH.

However, confirmation of the geological model, lower fans charged with oil etc... does wonders for RKH and derisking their licenses up north, where there is already one large commercial find.

Its all very simple, nothing complicated, just need to do some research. If people had they would not have been posting stupid comments earlier this morning.

Proselenes - 02 Nov 2010 09:03 - 3871 of 6294

The question now is.....

Waste lots of time and move the rig down south and drill Jacinta ?

Give the rig to RKH to appraise Sea Lion with a drill and then bring it back to Rachel ?

I do wonder if now there is a quick chance of one Sea Lion appraisal well being drilled whilst DES get the permission to re-drill Rachel......
