Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-02/desire-petroleum-surges-after-discovering-oil-at-rachel-well-in-falklands.html

.......Desires Rachel discovery may yield about 50 million barrels of recoverable oil, which would make it borderline commercial, Panmure Gordons Hitchens. Its not a slam-dunk like weve seen with Rockhopper......

greekman - 02 Dec 2010 10:52 - 3968 of 6294

I think Gordon Hitchens is almost pulling figures out of fairly thin air. It is far too early to predict such figures. If you look at the Sea Lion find, the Barrels of recoverable oil quoted were up/down like a yo yo and are still not know to any accurate degree.

Why do these people think they can give expert opinion on such scant figures.

Not saying they will be wrong, but anyone of us who have followed these oil explorers figures and oil analysts could come up with figures just as accurate as their guesstimate.

Yes it may yield, 50 million barrels, but then again it could yield 25 to 200. They as yet do not know.

I do agree it is not yet the slam dunk Sea Lion is.

Totaly agree Greek just look at the AGM... S.Moody's "it'll be done this year" quote and blow me they downgrade the amount of oil.......there are no certs in life.

The next well is a duster! Trust me! Sell now!

I have someone on the inside, and I am only posting this as a favour, as I do not wish to see anyone loose money.

I have it on good authority, 'There is no more oil to be found in the Falkland Fields'.
Remember, you read it here first.

I wonder how many of those in the know, who stated, 'Sell its a duster etc', are already penning such posts for the next drill results.
So I will be the first to spread one of those ridiculous rumors and save them time and effort!

At least next time I hope punters will be more skeptical of such posts.
No doubt if the results had been negative, they would be crowing how, 'They told us so'.
These people were either attempting (and succeeding) to knock the price down or/and guessing for the fun/disruption of it. It's as simple as that!
I guarantee they will attempt the same each time drilling/test results are due.

This mornings RNS shows more than anything what notice we should take of these doom mongers. NONE.

For the sentimental types who want to see photo's of the Ocean Guardian flaring the oil during the Sea Lion flow test then have a read of the just uploaded interim report.

News today.

Oil & Gas News:

JP Morgan have said that oil prices will increase to USD 120 by the end of 2012 due to strong growth in demand from emerging markets. JP Morgan have also increased their 2011 price forecast for WTI Crude oil by 3.6% to USD 93.

Greek

Anybody who would buys/sells stocks on the basis of another persons view point is plainly stupid. It is our own money we invest/trade and as such, we take the sole risk.

I try to keep a clear head when trading shares and generally speaking rely on my own thoughts and instincts. At least then, I only have myself to blame!

HARRYCAT - 07 Dec 2010 08:48 - 3975 of 6294

Considering RKH had only a minor interest in the DES drill, seems a shame that it is being dragged down by the same bad press. Surely good value sub 300p?

Balerboy - 07 Dec 2010 08:50 - 3976 of 6294

That was my thinking too harry, going to be no news from this quarter for a while to keep sp up.,.

cynic - 07 Dec 2010 09:38 - 3977 of 6294

BB - did i send you the pic from Kenya?

gildph - 07 Dec 2010 09:49 - 3978 of 6294

How much damage has Desire caused to RKH? Despite this they are still intent on 2 more drills in the south basin and waste the rest of their cash - are they trying to go bankrupt or what? All the profits I've with RKH have been wiped out by 3 failures in a row by DES - doomsday share!

robertalexander - 07 Dec 2010 09:59 - 3979 of 6294

have sold out my remaining shares in RKH and invested in another oily AFR. glad i was too 'chicken' to gamble on DES else i would have been sitting on a 50%+ loss vice a 15% loss on RKH. hopefully by better utilising the proceeds i can make up that loss. one always lives in hope.

aldwickk - 07 Dec 2010 13:21 - 3982 of 6294

aldwickk - 07 Dec 2010 13:23 - 3983 of 6294

Any sign of Pro ?

HARRYCAT - 07 Dec 2010 13:25 - 3984 of 6294

I would have trimmed the price down a little, but extended the time frame, as I think this will go a little lower over the next week or two. Of course, depends if you are trading or investing.

Time Traveller - 07 Dec 2010 13:52 - 3985 of 6294

I have orders in at 280 and 265 just waiting for a quick dip. With this share you just never know what will happen next!

cynic - 07 Dec 2010 14:05 - 3986 of 6294

Mr P is probably busy working out when he might have sold/bought to best effect ..... once he has established that, no doubt he'll post accordingly
