Mitzy I consider the Euro as being more of a Hindenbergesque hydrogen filled Zeppellin than a bubble!

mitzy - 17 Dec 2008 15:36 - 400 of 2076

The Euro is very strong so invest in euros or invest in gold I've done both.

goldfinger - 17 Dec 2008 16:33 - 401 of 2076

How on earth have the MMs managed to get a finishing spread and mid like that??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????.

Its nothing but robbery.

The FSA should be alerted.

cynic - 17 Dec 2008 17:46 - 402 of 2076

GF - stop being a tosser!

Euro
my opinion is that is ludicrously over-valued and that in the fulness of time, it may well reap the whirlwind ...... strength is due to the relatively high base rate being maintained by ECB and also the perception that UK will suffer far more than Euroland in this recesssion ... i happen not to subscribe to that view.

as far as i can see, there is no historical or other inter-relationship between the price of gold and the strength or otherwise of

mitzy - 17 Dec 2008 18:13 - 403 of 2076

The pound sank another 4 cents today against the Euro its going 1/1 by the end of the week its a disaster for me.

cynic - 17 Dec 2008 18:21 - 404 of 2076

mitzy - 17 Dec 2008 18:25 - 405 of 2076

I have a house in Malaga which I rent out but next year bookings are down to zero because everything is getting expensive for Brits.

cynic - 17 Dec 2008 21:46 - 406 of 2076

Falcothou - 17 Dec 2008 23:43 - 407 of 2076

European exports must be getting severely affected

goldfinger - 18 Dec 2008 02:08 - 408 of 2076

Cyners we were robbed at the death there. Must admit 2 buys have been added on after i switched off at 4.30 but at the time of posting the MMs were getting away with murder.

Anyway whats the Euro got to to do with the price of a bag of chips???. Ive been refering to the yank dollar.

goldfinger - 18 Dec 2008 02:10 - 409 of 2076

Mitzy yep Im in the same boat and have a internet cafe and a couple of properties in Spain, the outlook looks bad.

mitzy - 18 Dec 2008 07:11 - 410 of 2076

I agree gf its getting very expensive here in Spain ots not cheap to live anymore and the result is Brits are going to Turkey/Morocco etc. I was getting 1.50 euros 3 years back and now 1euro.

goldfinger - 18 Dec 2008 08:44 - 411 of 2076

Hambro starting to nudge up again mitzy.

required field - 18 Dec 2008 09:28 - 412 of 2076

The pound dropping will help british exports, you can be sure that it is only a matter of time before half Europe will be buying industrial goods over here rather than in their own countries....the /Euro has to settle before the big orders start to roll in; so in the short term we will suffer but we will come back quite strongly next year sometime with plenty of exports to come, the negative point is holidays abroad and imports of raw materials and if the pound remains low for the next 6 months or so :quite a few foreign firms will be setting up business over here !.

mitzy - 18 Dec 2008 09:39 - 413 of 2076

Spain is suffering a bad year and next year will be worse as regards the tourist trade the fact is Brits has disappeared.

porky - 18 Dec 2008 09:45 - 414 of 2076

What industries would that be then required field.
I did`nt realize we had any worthwhile industries left.
Just what are we going to export if no one is buying.
Why on earth would foreign companies want to set up in a country that is on it`s last legs.

goldfinger - 18 Dec 2008 10:03 - 415 of 2076

porky re- industries, what about biotech eg, renovo?

Evil K must be now hurting, he sold hambro at 340p.

goldfinger - 18 Dec 2008 10:34 - 416 of 2076

required field - 18 Dec 2008 13:12 - 417 of 2076

Come on porky.....we still make a heck of a lot of things.....mainly armaments it seems, also drugs, chemicals, and a few cars, all this will be a lot cheaper for export now !.

goldfinger - 18 Dec 2008 14:40 - 418 of 2076

And confectionery aswell who can beat cadburys and mars?.

Hambro looking set for a second wind.
