I dismissed this company as froth when I first looked at it. Since then the sp has doubled and continues to steadily rise. I looked again and when I saw the countries and contracts this firm is in---I was impressed and bought some to tuck away. anyone else bought in or interested?

Visa's investment in Monitise is a major boost for mobile payments, according to Datamonitor
Visa and mobile banking player Monitise have announced a five-year strategic partnership that also sees Visa take a 14.4% stake in the company. A clear statement of intent on its plans in mobile payments, Visa will market a range of ready-to-go mobile products to its banks. However significant for the two companies, this is even more significant for the development of mobile payments as a whole.
Having emerged from the early days of mobile banking and payments as one of the few with an approach to the space that has ultimately proved workable, Monitise has developed a suite of SMS and mobile web-based services for use across several areas of banking and payments. Crucially, its business model has focused on being the central player in an ecosystem accessible by consumers using any bank, mobile operator, handset manufacturer, and other agent. As a result, it is rapidly building its base of customers using its services in the UK and US, as well as developing services in Africa and India.
Kieran Hines*, lead analyst at Datamonitor, observes: Visa has itself been active in developing and testing mobile payment offerings for some time. In Europe alone it has been involved in trials in the UK, Switzerland, France and Spain in 2009, in addition to several other developments in Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and the US.
This strategic relationship with Monitise will see Visa take these past trials a stage further by marketing existing Monitise services to its partner banks; significantly expanding the reach of Monitise's mobile services as well as Visa's own position in the mobile space. Services likely to be given immediate prominence include transaction alerts, on demand balance/available credit enquiries, recent transaction histories, mobile marketing offers, and money transfer applications.
Monitise offers these services in an online banking context at the moment, but only in a small number of markets. By applying this model directly to payment cards, Visa would be able to theoretically sell these products to all of its partner banks globally; a huge potential market development.
Hines looks ahead of the deal: Should Visa be successful in rolling out mobile services to partner banks (and through them, consumers), the consequences for the industry are huge. Mobile payments, for so long hamstrung by conflicts of interest between stakeholders, may move one step closer to being a mass market service. He adds: Equally, failure to get this off the ground could severely limit the impact that mobile has in the future of payments. Time will tell.

Reading "Home" on MoneyAM (today), and you can see that Marconi's Ghost is still present . . . . the RNS for this "Monitise plc" company ( DYOR), - - - - it appears that EPIC codes are re-used with undue haste.
-For a FTSE100 to have failed so spectaculary, the EPIC should enter a Graveyard - - - but even more surprising, is the acceptance by Monitise plc of the [MONI] EPIC . I mean, would you name your next cruise ship "Titanic" - of course not . . . . . and I shan't invest in Monitise, whatever their prospects.
