Victoria plc has announced the acquisition of an Australian carpet manufacturer. We remain fearful of the growing debt burden and the forecasts, notably in respect of cash generation, simply don’t appear to be realistic to us!

The current valuation (Mkt cap £165m) suggests this business is trading at over 11x forecast 2017 free cash or approximately 14x 2017 ‘realistic’ free cash. By way of comparison shares in Apple Inc. currently trade at 13x historic free cash and Apple has net cash of over $70bn! Enterprise value to EBITDA for Victoria based on 2017 estimates is a whopping 10x, quite a rating for a carpet manufacturer!

Victoria has announced yet another sizeable acquisition, thankfully this time supported by some new equity, although the debt load still increases and free cash flow forecasts still don’t make complete sense. It’s an exciting one nonetheless!
