Stream, the provider of content and applications via mobile and fixed line
telephony, announces that all resolutions put before shareholders at the annual
general meeting, held today, were passed.
Speaking at the meeting, Gordon Robson, Chairman of Stream, made the following
statement:
I am pleased to report that following the announcement of our full year results
in February 2005, when we reported a 73% increase in profit before tax to 1.9m,
current trading is in line with expectations.
We are firmly focused on our strategy of becoming an integral part of the
emerging global mobile marketplace whilst building on our successful position as
a leading provider of mobile entertainment services. Stream's unique blend of
first rate technical expertise coupled with strong long term experience of
marketing telephony services enables us to achieve this goal.
Stream has recently entered the US market which is currently behind Europe in
mobile content and applications, but which offers a huge opportunity for
commercial success as the market develops. Our view is that the optimum approach
to the US market is initially to work with local partners. This strategy enables
us to rapidly establish a significant position in the US market whilst learning
about the territory on a low risk basis. We are successfully forming strong
relationships in the US media sector including the Fox television show 'American
Idol', and we hope to announce further relationships in the near future.
Mobile gaming is considered to be an area which will form a very significant
part of the future mobile industry. Stream has the technical expertise in-house
to work with major operators in this sector and is currently developing games
for Ladbrokes which will be branded and promoted by Ladbrokes. We consider
mobile gaming to be a key part of our strategy moving forward and will
increasingly focus on this sector as it emerges, working both with key gaming
industry partners and marketing our own games directly to consumers.
Our acquisition of MChex in January this year was the first significant move by
Stream in establishing a long term position in the mobile world. Mobile banking
is already well established in the highly developed Far East markets of South
Korea and Japan and is forecast to be one of the leading future mobile services
to be used by UK consumers. Our exclusive contract with MobileATM, whereby
Stream earns a commission on transactions, ensures that Stream will be an
integral part of mobile banking future.
In my statement at last year's Annual General Meeting, I said that 'Stream will
be at the forefront of the industry with both innovative applications and mass
market content'. The strong progress the Group has made during the last twelve
months demonstrates that we are very much on course to achieve this goal.

with any luck its the start of another upturn its only a matter of time before more contracts are awarded and the elusive partnership in the US

There must be some news out soon or the market has gone crazy? Hopefully it will be some good news do with their partnerships in the US, or some news on their mobile gambling ventures...Time will tell.

I agree Paul. Something's going on. If there is no news I would expect it will be difficult to hold on to gains.

Consolidation of the sector by Monster Mob?

From the Independent "Stream ticked 1p higher to 61.25p as gossips suggested the mobile phone content specialist is being stalked by a predator. They reckon Monstermob, 13.5p higher to 306.5p, is a prime contender to make a move on the Stream after the failure of its planned tie-up with iTouch."
