From what I understand, nothing is to be decided for 6 months at least and then there is a good chance of everything being declared valid, but in Iraq nothing is certain as we all know : just look at Petrel Resources...though their sp has shot up now that I'm out of it.

Yes, about 40% ish up from recent lows when even cynic suggested a purchase 'if you must' in PET, still you made a profit rf. GKP, profit taking was bound to happen given the meteoric rise again this week, good luck to all who held their nerve and still hold.

guess we are all watching for the RNS.....and keeping quiet

blueface - 24 Aug 2009 09:37 - 403 of 5505

this stock has been ramped like hell since they announced their oil discovery!!--i know two friends of mine who got in on the act--150,000 bght at 18p and my other more wealthy chum bght 1,000,000 at 22p--be very careful now as anything could happen i am told!!---definitely not for widows and orphans at these levels--better bet is Nighthawk Resources at @ 40p guys!!--look them up!--they are a sensible buy!

cynic - 24 Aug 2009 09:53 - 404 of 5505

first part is true, but though i hold HAWK i'm far from convinced i'ld them a "buy" of any description

Balerboy - 24 Aug 2009 10:14 - 405 of 5505

Bit late in the morning for you cynic.....

cynic - 24 Aug 2009 16:27 - 406 of 5505

have also now banked the profit on the "extra" slice i bought the other day

cynic - 25 Aug 2009 07:45 - 407 of 5505

this is the bit we have been waiting for .....

'We are greatly encouraged by the discovery of a second interval in what we believe to be a single and significant reservoir within the Sargelu, Alan and Mus formations. Even at this early stage, the commerciality of this discovery is substantially strengthened by our upward revision of the oil-in-place estimate. The Shaikan-1 is proving to be a value-transforming discovery for Gulf Keystone.'

Yabbadabbadoo.....!!!!

cynic - 25 Aug 2009 08:23 - 409 of 5505

so now the big decision is whether to hold or sell at least some ....... frankly, i have no idea at all as to what this find does for the value of GKP ..... not even cross that i was prudent and sold my "trading slice" yesterday, as that was always the purpose of buying it .... today is just one of those great freak bonanzas that i am lucky enough to be sharing in

required field - 25 Aug 2009 08:26 - 410 of 5505

Well it looks set to go way above the 100p level now at some stage,....fantastic news, makes me regret selling some but still retained loads of them, what a strike and there could be more to come.

cynic - 25 Aug 2009 08:35 - 411 of 5505

never wrong to bank profit ... if i had known about today's announcement, i scarcely think i would have sold any yesterday, albeit at a modest but useful quick profit

required field - 25 Aug 2009 08:52 - 412 of 5505

I sold some....(small amount compared to the rest of my holding) but you just have to,...many a time I have been caught out by drops but there is more to come, a lot more possibly.

mitzy - 25 Aug 2009 11:17 - 413 of 5505

I'm back in again after selling too early last time my mate says they could be massive and I trust him.

rekirkham - 25 Aug 2009 11:23 - 414 of 5505

Who,s your mate ? Is he a very good friend ?

required field - 25 Aug 2009 11:34 - 415 of 5505

I think as it is that there is another 20 or 30p still to come...then possibly another surge if there is more at the bottom...whatever the outcome this is already a mighty successful well with more drilling to come....

mitzy - 25 Aug 2009 12:01 - 416 of 5505

Know his oils rekirkham. as I said I sold far too early in May.

cynic - 25 Aug 2009 12:16 - 417 of 5505

sorry mitzy, but i don't believe your friend has any more idea than the rest of us about the true significance of the find, and thus by definition, what is a fair price for either the company or the share .... don't forget there is still an awful lot of dispute to be resolved between the kurds and baghdad

mitzy - 25 Aug 2009 12:27 - 418 of 5505

I trust him cynic thats all that matters to me I'm not an oilie by nature.

cynic - 25 Aug 2009 13:01 - 419 of 5505

there is indeed a possibility of more upside, either soon or some time in the future, but i certainly would/could not recommend buying at the current price except maybe as a top up to trade (for the brave!)
