the court case has now become rather turgid instead of the crash-bang-wallop prior to christmas ..... i'ld guess there will be little interest in GKP until all is finally resolved or there is some interesting action in Kurdistan

The CC has roughlya month to go,it will take the judgge several months to reach a verdict. It shoulg be understood that this is a test case in UK law,so much care will be taken, with no stone unturned, leaving little chance an appeal on a point og law.
"if" the Clause 8 91 is null and void,it would certainly help in speeding thing up,but a
conservative date imo, would be August, with no appeal?

one might also have to ask whether or not EXC's backers have the stomach for throwing even more money at this carpetbagger's claim ..... btw, why is it a "test case in uk law"? .... in no more than 50 words pleasse :-)

It seems the tactic of using the court as a delaying ploy,is not uncommon(US),some suggest a form of blackmail? This is the 1st case of it's kind here,so hence a case setting precident.
As the Judge stated earlier,"The court is not an infinate resource".
A little like a no lose claim, where the costs outweigh a successful result.
I'd better gi to the bottom of the class, failure on the 50 word restriction?

in uk, cases can certainly be summarily dismissed and without right of appeal if deemed "vexatious" ..... whether that will prove to be the case here, i really have no idea.
quite surprised similar does not apply in usa
as many divorce cases have shown - and surely this too is a civil action - if you have deep enough pockets, then you have a right to take the issue to court

good point, but i wonder what the rules are for a judge to determine at the end of this episode whether or not EXC (or GKP) may be allowed or refused the right to appeal

Chevron Acquires New Stake in Kurdish Oil License - Oil Official
PrintAlert
Chevron (NYSE:CVX)
Intraday Stock Chart

By Hassan Hafidh
BAGHDAD--U.S. oil company Chevron Corp. (CVX) has expanded its presence in the Kurdish region of Iraq by acquiring a stake in a new oil exploration block, a senior official at Kurdistan's oil ministry said Thursday.
The deal builds on Chevron's two existing oil licenses in the region which were acquired in July from Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd. (500325.BY). The presence of Chevron, and other western companies like Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) and Total SA (TOT), has provoked protest from Iraq's central government, which says the Kurdish authorities have no right to grant exploration licenses.
"We are pleased that Chevron has strengthened its commitment in Kurdistan by acquiring a stake in another new oil field, Qara Dagh," a senior official at Kurdistan's oil ministry told Dow Jones Newswires.
Chevron was not available for comment.
The company and the Kurdish regional government have agreed on the terms of the deal but have yet to sign it, the official said.
The Iraqi central government has barred Chevron from having oil contracts in central and southern Iraq since the California-based company bought stakes in the two oil-exploration blocks.

Ouch!
That's one hec of an accusation to throw at a supposedly impartial expert witness.
And I'm sure Gaisman didn't just chuck that out without some backing.
Looks like Clifford Chance have been aligning evidence from every quarter - writing the script, even.
