CEY is a gold mining company operating in Egypt. It was ordered by the Egyptian Government to stop drilling pending a legal dispute brought against the company by a government minister.
Since then, the whole Government cabinet was replaced a few months ago and the minister now in charge of Mining is believed to be positive on Western investment in the country. CEY are pushing for this minister to allow them to continue drilling ASAP; investers are waiting....patiently.
As soon as the company gets the go-ahead to continue drilling, the share price will move north; CEY has plenty of gold in this mine and it is (apparantly) the case of "raking" it out rather than drilling for it!
Check them out...worthy of a punt.

Oh dear.
Seems some of you don't understand the market but never mind. That's the difference between people that are investors who only watch a few stocks and traders who have to watch everything that is going on.
rf - you're an idiot sometimes which is why you like throwing money away.
Harry - (and I don't include you in the above comments) I didn't say you couldn't get back in, just that it was very difficult once you're out to gauge when to get back in.
For those that think I'm talking rubbish, I suggest you check-out AST; CNR and THR

...afetr saying that, I am surprised the sp has dropped below the placing price.
But I guess the new shares don't come to the market till 12 Dec so there appears to be time for some to short.

My limit buy has triggered at 1.649848 which seems a bit pedantic! However, happy to now hold 'til the New Year.

Well I've topped up, taking this opportunity with the sp down 18% from its high and the outlook very rosy.

DD - CEY is pretty liquid and is a "proper" stock rather than MM only

So DD are you going to enlighten us? I freely admit to being a dabbler who only got here because I was fed up with "experts" charging me to lose my money and now have a SIPP. I've always thought these threads as primarily a friendly place for giving/taking help and admit I do more taking than giving and am always pleased to learn.

Yes I know cynic, I was merely making a point.
IMHO, most AIM stocks are dead-in-a-duck which has little to do with their prospects. MM's don't want them in case they go bust and they have been marked down to the basement. The problem is that PI's are refusing to sell them and nobody wants to buy a share that is going nowhere so there is no market for them.
If you notice at the moment, with one or two notable exceptions (Falkies), any decent news that comes out has little effect on the sp. Really, it is just a vicious circle. If however, the sp does escape the bottom rung and a market is created in the share with buyers and sellers then the sp will rise. eg you saw it recently with VOG to name but one. For many, once it has risen, it will then stay at that level (VOG; CONDOR and over the last couple of days THOR). What happens occassionally is that that the sellers keep coming in to lock in a profit of a share that keeps rising. The MM's don't want the share so they keep allowing the sp to rise to attract buying PI's which is, in my opinion, the reason why we have seen a few extraordinary rises (BPC). The problem is knowing which one is going next and how far it is going to rise.
As I say, it is my take on it, I may be wrong and if any MM's want to genuinely reply (as I'm sure they trawl these threads) then I am quite happy to be proved wrong. It is why I say once you have sold, particularly in the tiddlers, atm it is very difficult to chose the moment to get back in.
Of course now I have said all this, it will probably all change and yes, I know rf there are exceptions.

for sure you are wrong, assuming i have understood you correctly ..... the companies you mention are all, i think, micro-minnows (amoeba even!) .... however, there are very well capitalised and profitable companies indeed on AIM
for myself, i don't check or care on which index the companies which interest me are quoted .... i do however, have something of an aversion to companies that are "MM only", even if i invest (sorry - take a gamble some would say) in some - XEL being the classic

This is a good company but too big....good for trading within a certain range within an isa or such.....but don't expect any miracle movements because there won't be any...that was a couple of years ago...buy this ..it goes up 10p....and then out....nice profit but yawn,,,really.....
