Rockhopper - A big 2011 coming (RKH)

Check the main screen..money AM..says 270p....closing price in small print says 224p...

kimoldfield - 10 May 2011 21:02 - 411 of 729

So it does! Wishful thinking by a gremlin?!

required field - 10 May 2011 21:38 - 412 of 729

JKX...up by a pound ?.....I thought it was a takeover....but no....

Proselenes - 13 May 2011 13:48 - 413 of 729

The only news I would not mind hearing is that RKH have farmed into the Ann prospect and the 4th confirmed drill will be Ann now - with RKH taking a 50% stake for paying the drill costs.

That would be good news for ARG/DES and RKH - as Ann is a tasty item, if they drill up north.

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/markets/article-23949758-sage-talk-sweeps-the-city-but-wiser-heads-remain-sceptical.do

........Investors are clearly gluttons for punishment: troubled Falklands oil explorer Desire Petroleum shot up 1.5p to 14.9p on hopes of imminent good news........

Proselenes - 13 May 2011 13:49 - 414 of 729

As news flow goes :

May - 14-10/5 drill results

June - 14-10/5 flow test results
June - 14-10/6 spudding

July - 14-10/6 drill results
July - 14/10/6 flow test results
July - RKH 3D update
July - DES 3D update
July - ARG 3D update
July - 14-10/7 spudding

August - 14-10/7 drill results
August - 14-10/8 spudding

etc............. and then in Q4 we have BOR and ARG drilling as well, with FOGL joining in in Q1 2012. Also in Q4 we should see another exploration well, the full 3D seismic updates from DES/ARG/RKH, a new CPR from RKH and so much more.........

cynic - 13 May 2011 17:03 - 415 of 729

for the next few months, FI stocks are for the brave and foolhardy only .... investors, especially PIs, have taken a real pasting of late, not only in this region but also with the likes of EO and XEL .... de facto, there is currently no appetite for these stocks, and Lord help holders if more disappointment is realised

halifax - 13 May 2011 17:14 - 416 of 729

cynic so what went wrong, why isn't RKH'S sp 7+ as predicted by the likes of PP and others? Is it because PI's have realised that some company directors are issuing news releases which are far to optimistic and pumping up the company's sp?

cynic - 13 May 2011 17:26 - 417 of 729

never said a word, though i think you may be a bit harsh - other than DES turning oil into water as if it were a miracle

Proselenes - 14 May 2011 09:36 - 418 of 729

Just doing a little compare...

XEL - "core area" of 22 million recoverable barrels of heavy crude. Plenty of upside. License upside perhaps 200 million recoverable barrels. Fiscal terms ok taking into account special tax incentives for heavy crude. British territorial waters. No license issues.

Market cap over 350 million GBP.

----------------------

RKH - "core area" of 155 million recoverable barrels of medium crude in 1 lead. Plenty of upside. License upside perhaps 4 billion recoverable barrels. Fiscal terms very good. British territorial waters. No license issues. 100% owned and operated.

Market cap of 564 million GBP.

If XEL is cheap at the moment then RKH is an absolute bargain verging on the side of being ridiculously cheap.

cynic - 14 May 2011 10:00 - 419 of 729

do i detect rationalisation? .....

who said XEL is cheap at the current level?
though XEL's oil is unfashionable heavy, it is at least easy to bring ashore for refining once it starts to flow and, though i'm happy to be contradicted, the bentley field is already strongly indicated (proven may be too brave) to be very substantial indeed

on the other hand, RKH has indeed found good quality crude at sealion, but so far, no one but no one has found any more - some not even that good! - and even RKH has not yet found any more than their initial discovery ..... while something of a side issue, bringing FI crude ashore will be a very expensive operation

in conclusion, what is cheap now could easily turn out cheaper later!

required field - 15 May 2011 10:23 - 420 of 729

Both companies probably want to proceed with development and production, before going for exploration wildcat wells again, .....indeed RKH will get the Sealion discovery well on its way for production together with all the complications...(farm in for production, funding etc...) sorted out before going for loads of exploration wells again. I presume though : that sort of activity will start again long before the first oil flows but they will have all Sealion issues well cared for and the imminent cash flows (one to two years) as a safety net for the costly business of drilling around the falklands. XEL will probably get more acreage sooner or later.
Both to me anyway are undervalued and like Proselenes says : the possibility of another great discovery is there and could send Rockhoppers sp up way past the 5 mark.

Proselenes - 16 May 2011 12:16 - 421 of 729

Interesting that MasterShanus over at III reckons "No drilling update" at TD.

He says no news until flow test complete, at which point a single update on everything.

Who knows...... ?

cynic - 16 May 2011 12:33 - 422 of 729

not him, that's for sure

Proselenes - 20 May 2011 08:24 - 423 of 729

Stock on loan figure.

Gradually rising, now up to 1 million. It was just 300K not so long ago.

Proselenes - 20 May 2011 10:08 - 424 of 729

New rig status report.

http://www.diamondoffshore.com/ourFleet/documents/May17web2011.xls

Shows the 3 well program of which the first well is ongoing (Ongoing contract)

Shows first firm well of 10 options (this is the newly announced firm well being the 1st of 10 options). (Future contract).

So of the remaining 9 options I would guess at least 2 for ARG, perhaps 3.

Perhaps 2 or 3 reserved for DES (if they can raise money).

So perhaps 3 more for RKH once the ongoing 4 are finished, as we now have 4 wells back to back of RKH drilling.

Proselenes - 20 May 2011 12:52 - 425 of 729

Stock on loan now up by 250K to now 1.15million.

So 250K sold yesterday were "borrowed" stock - thats quite a bit of the total volume given the very low volumes at the moment.

gibby - 20 May 2011 21:29 - 426 of 729

hmmmmmmmm

on loan stock of main interest to me

gl

ps why do pis still buy des?! i must be missing something - at least rkh has a half decent chance

Proselenes - 23 May 2011 19:38 - 427 of 729

The future.....

.

Proselenes - 28 May 2011 03:01 - 428 of 729

The dreaded/loved (delete as appropriate) "borgo" has predicted 91 is a magic number.

When 2 of the most important pieces of data are added together it equals 91.

So for those who despise him, look away.

For those that like a laugh and a bit of fun the expectation is that porosity + net pay = 91.

So could it be 21% porosity and 70M net pay ? (I would fall off my chair if it were).

Or is it 65% water saturation and 26M net pay (price would fall off a chair if it were).

Fun times - news Tuesday morning after the bank holiday Monday - enjoy the break.

required field - 28 May 2011 10:29 - 429 of 729

I'm hoping for a good result here......perhaps I'm expecting too much from this company.....where has all the optimism gone that was on this board before ?....
