Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

If you can keep your head whilst others are loosing theirs, you probably have no idea whats going on in the first place.

cynic - 09 Feb 2011 15:12 - 4209 of 6294

meanwhile, volume is nearly twice norm at 4m and sp down a further 25p ..... how much of this is forced sales (stop-losses hit) rather than fear, or worse still, inside knowledge, who can tell?

cynic - 09 Feb 2011 15:15 - 4210 of 6294

chart is getting interesting with 320 looking like an excellent support to a dope like me ..... also need to check exactly what happened in May and September .... would guess spudding followed by strike

placing was at 3.15p so down side must be small if a duster as at this price it looks like a duster priced in.

cynic - 09 Feb 2011 15:24 - 4212 of 6294

doesn't necessarily follow ..... however, and i know you'll correct if needed, Sealion would appear to be commercial and that current tests are to establish exactly "how much" commercial

markymar - 09 Feb 2011 15:27 - 4213 of 6294

This well been drilled is pure exploration and I would say 1 in 4 chance of success, the next drill after this is an appraisal well on Sea Lion

cynic - 09 Feb 2011 15:32 - 4214 of 6294

thanks marky, though you actually meant 25% chance!

markymar - 09 Feb 2011 15:34 - 4215 of 6294

your correct 25% chance i was told, which is quiet good.

Balerboy - 09 Feb 2011 15:35 - 4216 of 6294

Not looking so good......any news at all anyone ?....they must know by now whether oil or gas is there by now..... looks like a duster...28p down.....not so good...

cynic - 09 Feb 2011 20:11 - 4221 of 6294

i really don't know, but was monitoring carefully and just noticed that the book balance changed

greekman - 10 Feb 2011 08:03 - 4222 of 6294

15 released trades from yesterday post close auction....All look to be buys by the auction price.
OK obviously could mean nothing, except those 15 deals show confidence. Hope it is not misguided.

greekman - 10 Feb 2011 08:14 - 4223 of 6294

How to blame a market maker.

Today the price goes up a few percent.
MMs to blame as they are 'temping' those who were nervous after yesterdays drop to sell.
Today the price goes down a few percent.
MMs to blame as they are 'frightening' those who were nervous after yesterdays drop to sell.

cynic - 10 Feb 2011 08:16 - 4224 of 6294

not really true .... not only is this an "open" stock so not so readily open to abuse by MMs, but the bid book is currently the longer

greekman - 10 Feb 2011 08:20 - 4225 of 6294

Hi Cynic,

Agreed. Just showing how we can blame just about anyone for anything.
That is why I put How to, not Why to.
I was being facetious.

Greek.
