VOG is presently drilling Well 104 in its West Medvezhye field,and expected to reach depth in 4 weeks from spud date of 30th June, that makes 27th July(this week).
Results of testing will be sometime mid/late August, with a positive outcome
it could be HUGH.
With estimates of 134BILLION cubic metres of GAS and 201 Million barrels of Gas
Condensate,it will be a Company Maker. The field is in the area of the largest gas field in the WORLD.
Other assets include Kemerkol in Kazakhstan, with C1 reserves of 8.7MBO
and C2 reserves of7.8MBO. Another acquistion is Tamdykol with potental
reserves of 34MBO, it also has interest in 2 blocks in the North Sea.

It has excellent management team led by Kevin Foo, who hopes to turn it into
a Mid Cap Company(�500m+) in the not to distant future.

Fantastic Investment, IMHO. Tons more upside - can't think of anything that would persuade me to sell now. Any theories as to how long it will be before the market cap hits a billion? (Hint: I think this will make Sibir Energy look boring!!)

Delays in making announcements seem to be common in the oil industry; on a longer term view I'd say there's very little to worry about.

BTW I think the response to recent reserve upgrades was by no means enthusiastic enough, given that brokers were tipping 300p a share after the announcement in November that D&M had assessed reserves at "median estimate 0.5 trillion cu ft of gas". Now that they are saying it's more like 5.5 trillion, I'd tend to agree with anyone who says that 500p a share ought to be in sight. The announcement of results from the confirmation/appraisal wells at 104 ought to provide some real impetus. However, for those of you who are still feeling impatient, the announcement in the interims did say, "With the test results from Well 104 imminent and the drilling ofWell 106 to further appraise the structure due to complete in the next fewweeks, we hope to be able to confirm and book proven C1 reserves by late 2006."

Why is the price dropping? I thought this stock was supposed to heading towards 300p. I am starting get worried. Anyone got any news?

Well, it's going in the right direction !

First oil production at Kemerkol.

SP hardly moved yet. Good buying opportunity.

Surely in light of a lot of recent speculation, the confirmation that oil production has actually started should be really strong positive news... so has anyone any ideas why the sp intraday is -ve?

The overall market is down today so this would have effect on the sp.

Up and down like a fiddlers elbow. Cant find any news on this one.

Anybody got any ideas. I thought it would have perfomed better than this with the news of oil production at kemerkol.

Cash generation at Kemerkol on only 1,800 bbl/day by year end is not particularly significant for a company valued at over 280 million (don't forget that UK companies producing oil in Russia realise less profit per bbl due to export restrictions and depressed prices on the domestic market, if experience with Sibir Energy is anything to go by). I don't have precise figures; maybe someone else does?

Sibir is also taking a hammering this week - seems to be profit-taking season in the FSU!!

Kemerkol isn't in Russia. It's in Kazakhstan.

In which case, I certainly don't have any bright ideas as to why the sp keeps dipping. Personally I think this is a buy in any case, most definitely not to be sold pending the exploratory drilling at Well 104. After which the price should take off again??

It's a piece of string, Sky. Victoria has us all on tenterhooks waiting for the announcement about 104. The release is said to be "imminent", but that could mean imminently next week or imminently when the drilling job finally gets done. As long as it's good news . . .

Am in VOG at about 1.50 average - great prospects, lucky enough to be in Burren from 1.50. hoping this will go the same way. positive results from 104 will give share price a big boost.

Now the big boys are getting in on the cheap,this must be a great chance to do likewise.They must be in the know,not like you and I having to second guess every move the MM's make.So IMO there should be nothing for us to worry about and we should get in while the going is good,Good news will rocket this to well over 3 and we will be laughing all the way to the bank.
