Gausie when you play rouletteis your bet 100 red 100 black 3 zero.just to get your free Cinzano and lemonade and Ferrero Rocher.that would put you 2-89 in front.proper Tokyo Joe!!!

Gausie - 03 Dec 2008 16:33 - 443 of 974

Don't play roulette - it's a mugs game - Only craps and blackjack.

You may laugh at the 2% profit here and the 5% profit there - but add them up one day and you'll understand.

tabasco - 03 Dec 2008 16:58 - 444 of 974

Gausie .HOUSE EDGE Roulette of the sort played in British casinos allows for the player to place 'Even Chance' bets They are High Low Red Black Odd and Even As zero is green and none of these then none of these bets is paid out as a winner when zero comes up However the player gets to retain half of their bet This brings the house edge down to around 1.35%. The normal house advantage from playing the numbers in Roulette is 2.7%. i.e. A single chip placed on a winning number should return 37 chips to break even but it returns 36 instead. The edge is 1/37
1.35% is a lot less than your hokey cokey on mks!

The press reports were not that good over discount days!

LONDON, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Marks & Spencer Group Plc, the British clothing, homewares and food retailer, said on Wednesday it will hold a second 20 percent-off pre-Christmas sale on Thursday.

..........................

The 'One Day Christmas Spectacular', offering the reduction on all clothing, home and wine, comes just two weeks after M&S' last discount day, its first pre-Christmas clearance for four years.

But analysts say they hurt margins and impact sales on days prior to and immediately after event days.

Researchers Experian said on Monday that heavy discounting was not boosting overall shopper numbers. They reported a 0.9 percent fall in footfall in Britain's shops in November, with big discount days providing brief spikes.

At 1045 GMT shares in M&S were down 6.5 pence, or 3 percent, at 218.5 pence.

i ventured to Westfield today and thought it surprisingly quiet for just before Christmas ...... for sure the w/e's will be very busy, but given that this place has novelty value and will attract many people who do not want the various hassles of going to West End, i thought the signs for retail in general were pretty ominous

Gausie - 03 Dec 2008 19:03 - 447 of 974

Tabby - house edge may be the best part of 1.35% on roulette - but do you know what it is on the best craps bets? (0%) or vegas rules blackjack (dealer stands on soft 17, player can double anything and split any pair) (negative under certain circumstances)? And yes, I do play for fun and for comps - usually flights, shows, meals and hotel rooms - because in vegas they can be the players edge.

tabasco - 04 Dec 2008 12:51 - 450 of 974

I still have all mine at 2-03 with no costs along the way!!! TradersEstate AgentsPoliticians.let me see what would the equivalent of that be in a Three Card Brag handyes that would be 5.3.2. different suits of course!

Gausie - 04 Dec 2008 14:11 - 451 of 974

reduced 222.25

Actually tabby I've only taken a loss on one tranche - it was a small loss on a long and I posted it on here at the time. The other trades have all been profitable - and with each sell and cover I'm building a bigger position and effectively raising my entry price.

This short is proving very profitable.

tabasco - 04 Dec 2008 18:06 - 452 of 974

Not so good on the discount day today.although the first 20% day was excellentWeather did not helpand neither did people being Broke skint or boracic

cynic - 05 Dec 2008 08:12 - 456 of 974

just shows how desperate the stores are, M&S merly being the visible tip of the iceberg on this BB ..... i took my profit on ASC yesterday (went short WOS again instead), and confess amazement that that price remains as resilient as it has

tabasco - 05 Dec 2008 08:50 - 457 of 974

Cynic.you could call it desperatebut desperate high street conditionscall for desperate measuresI personally like to see a company take the necessary steps to edge rivalsto my knowledge M&S discounting has given them a lead over competitionwhilst I agree it is not ideal.the retailers with scale will be the ones which eventually survive the margin squeezethe SP may well drop and I could not possibly call a bottom but I am in a position to follow it down with a substantially increased position if necessaryI have a good starting point. I take your point

cynic - 05 Dec 2008 08:51 - 458 of 974

gosh! .... praise indeed - lol!
