Share price above R2 - Looks like good results are expected tommorrow!

optomistic - 24 Nov 2003 16:13 - 47 of 582

Havnt been home allday but managed to see teletext prices @ 65.5p at one time.I thought good! Yesterday I noticed an article on a BB about THUS advertising for staff in Leeds, could be an interesting development in THUS moving into KCOMS arena. Hope we are not dissapointed tommorrow.

optomistic - 24 Nov 2003 16:22 - 48 of 582

Looking at the 'trades' 65.5p appears to have been due to wide spreads.

little woman - 24 Nov 2003 17:33 - 49 of 582

The length of the "candle" on the top chart is the spread. When it finally tightened I pick a few more for 62.66p - I must admit I like Limit buys & sells, as they often "catch" good prices, which are only available for seconds!

I wouldn't worry about THUS adv. for staff in KCOM areas - doesn't mean much. KCOM have a very large office in Hook, Hampshire - not exactly an area you'd expect to see them!

Thanks again LW, you are a mine of information and a great tutor!
Very much appreciated.

For 0910 the spread has dropped to less than 1% - with the offer price dropping as there is plenty of support for the bid price!

Good time to buy

Although I know that the sell & buy trades are misleading (every buy has a sell etc) but never more so than on KCOM!

Most AT trades on most shares are recorded as when the MM wants to buy a share (goes down as a sale - as its the bid price) & when they want to sell (goes down as a buy - as its the offer price) because of the prices.

But with KCOM I've just seen lots of small AT sells (the offer price) go down as sells - I suppose this is because by someone buying the shares the offer price automatically is recorded as the next highest amount for a offer which is a lot more than the bid price.

optomistic - 25 Nov 2003 13:58 - 55 of 582

Interims in line with expectations? I think that long term holders ,as myself will have to be patient for some while longer. I note from the results that the Co. is cash flow positive and is 'expected to be so hereafter.' if the losses start reducing substantially shortly this must be a very positive point.

I managed to pick a few up yesterday @63.25p for short term profit. Already holding some in my long term portfolio, waiting for the day they start paying a dividend again!

little woman - 26 Nov 2003 16:35 - 57 of 582

Odd sort of day - the share price has really swung today. Auction currently happening

- I may be reading this wrong, but it looks like Buys are 211206 @64p & sells are 14754 @ 65p - if they are buying at 64p they want to sell higher than that!

optomistic - 26 Nov 2003 16:57 - 58 of 582

I've also noticed on previous occasions that the buys have been higher than the sells for a number of trades. I just put that down to a glitch in the software, other wise it didn't make any sense to me. About dividends, when they start arriving again we will certainly on the uptrack, look forward to that!

Kingston Scoops Contract with Lottery Ticket Printer Stralfors

Specialist printing company becomes first business in Cornwall to be directly connected to Kingston's nationwide network

Specialist printing and information transfer company Stralfors - best known for printing National Lottery tickets - has called on telecommunications company Kingston Communications to be its sole provider of voice and data services in the UK.

The global company - which becomes the first business in Cornwall to be directly connected to Kingston's nationwide telecommunications network - awarded the contract in a move to cut communications costs and improve service.

"We switched to Kingston because we wanted to reduce our overall expenditure on voice and data and streamline our communications," says Mark Wright, IT manager at Stralfors, which recently moved its UK operations to a purpose-built 75,000sq ft factory in Redruth, Cornwall.

"Another factor in our decision to award Kingston the business was our need for a single source of invoicing for data and IT, as well as a single point of contact for account management."

Under the terms of the agreement, Stralfors' voice and data traffic will be carried on Kingston's national fibre network.

In addition, Kingston Communications is providing leased lines between Stralfors - which also has a site in Swindon - and its main customers. These will allow data from customers to be converted, collated, made into documents and mailed by Stralfors, which specialises in critical transactional mailings.

As well as printing and posting almost one million personalised letters a month to registered donors on behalf of the National Blood Service, Stralfors prints the stationery for every game slip and lottery ticket sold in the UK for Camelot, playing its own unique part in making millionaires each week.

"What we like about Kingston is that we have a dedicated account manager and regular contact, which helps enormously with new projects," adds Mark Wright.

Lance Spencer, managing director of Kingston Communications - business markets, said winning the contract - which had been secured following a competitive tender involving BT and Energis - reflected why many companies choose Kingston.

"Kingston is a national telecommunications provider, but has a firm commitment to supporting customers at the local level," he says. "This ensures they have a named point of contact and a rapid response to their enquiries. This closeness to the customer is why many companies select Kingston as their provider over and above some of our more anonymous competitors."

Kingston Communications provides a comprehensive portfolio of cost-effective, high quality business communications services including voice, data and 08 services in the towns and cities across the UK.

The company recently extended its network to make its services available to more businesses in the South West. For information, call 0800 138 6000.

I dont think that we can expect a great deal of movement for a while but it certainly is a plus point for kcom when they keep landing these contracts.
Interesting that kcom is moving into the South. Must be a lot of business to be won in that area.

The seem to be going for quality (high volume/single user) rather than quantity (low volume/multiple users) business - should pay off in the long run.

realcooltrader - 28 Nov 2003 10:28 - 65 of 582

Just discovered this thread, excellent work lw. optomistic, out of interest, the Hook office used to be Milgo Solutions, which KCOM bought in 2001 (I think) to expand into the data communication side of things. Recent contract wins seem to be both voice and data, so things are obviously beginning to work. KCOM also have a huge site close to Gerrards Cross, where their inmedia satellite stuff is based.
