IQE - Silicon is the future (IQE)

Master RSI - 03 Feb 2003 11:56

IQE is the leading global outsource supplier of customized epitaxial wafers to the semiconductor industry.

Their technology is of most advanced like AFM means Atomic Force Microscopy and moves a minuscule cantilever over an objects surface, a sharp tip passes over dips or rises punched in the surface and reads out digital information. This technology is not going to slow down it is going to speed up and has to replace most existing forms of memory storage by virtue of capacity and size.

The future of nano-technology, these tiny/minute robots would need very small processors and most sure strained silicon could provide these.

The low share price is due to uncertainty as to when the cash will run out, but I don't think this will happen as cash is of 12 to 15M and NAV of 30p, and losses are going to drop on the next 3 month and we could have profits on the Q4 2004.

Latest news from the Chairman were" The Group remains confident that it is in a strong position within the outsourcing market, although the protection of its cash position is paramount.
With a broad product portfolio allowing the customer base to use IQE as a 'one stop shop', a large available production capacity and a strong balance sheet, the Board believes the Group will benefit strongly as the overall semiconductor industry recovers and will continue to strengthen its position as the leading outsource supplier of advanced wafer products to the sector. "

Nearly all the recent results have been encouraging. Q4 accounts are being completed (30th Dec 2002). IQE know where they stand, if things had got worse their would have been a trading statement by now, and with Amberwave (IQE's partner) increasing its Asian presence, this is a bullish trend and a good point to pick up the shares @ 4.25p

chessplayer - 03 Jul 2013 16:13 - 476 of 1520

Someone asked Simon Thompson in his IC column this lunchtime about IQE, his response:-

SIMONTHOMPSON

I have updated IQE a number of times in rsponse to reader queries. The company is due to release a half year trading update on Wednesday 24 July 2013. Rated on 9 times current year EPS estimates, a huge discount to other chip makers and designers, I continue to rate the shares a buy.

Regards

Simon

How do you identify stocks which are being shorted. When stocks are headed down , the trades are often showing more buys than sells ?

goldfinger - 04 Jul 2013 14:40 - 481 of 1520

Im on the laptop at the moment as interior works going on at my home.

If you can wait while sun I can hopefully post a site that gives Private Investors shorting in the mean time heres the insitutuions shorting the stock.

Got to remember its just not whats gone through but latent demand and supply on level 2(market makers order book) that dictates the SP although many a time it can be a case MMs are building stock inventory for a future event eg, results in 3 weeks in preperation for demand taking off etc etc.

Also on books sometimes orders are placed just to confuse the MMs though not strictaly legal and are removed later.

Heres the Institutuions shorting link, just looks like Black Rock.......

Good example currently of 2.6 mil buys against 900 k sells and SP down 3.6% - end of play and certainly tomorrow could be interesting.
What does anyone make of an enormous amount of buys of under 50 shares. ?

panto - 04 Jul 2013 16:40 - 483 of 1520

>>>>Good example currently of 2.6 mil buys against 900 k sells and SP down 3.6%

you can not count - moneyam - trades, as the "AT" from the order book as buys are sells and viseversa

I hope you know that at the order book you can buy at selling price and sell at buy price.

chessplayer - 04 Jul 2013 17:05 - 484 of 1520

So there seems to be some chicanery going on at times.

Shortie - 04 Jul 2013 17:06 - 485 of 1520

Think I'll go long if I can get in below 20p, risky but has potential.

goldfinger - 05 Jul 2013 01:15 - 486 of 1520

Think we could get a good day tomorrow if non farm pay rolls are good.

chessplayer - 05 Jul 2013 09:24 - 487 of 1520

Yes indeed, might even be a turning point.
Any idea on what the expectations are for this jobs report ?

Oakapples142 - 05 Jul 2013 09:44 - 488 of 1520

Panto - thank you - not that I still completely understand. Perhaps its better that I stay ignorant as my porfolio of 13 stocks (including this one) is currently 73% to the good !! Thank you again
