JJ50,
It certainly is. Either the market is finally reassessing its valuation of the company's long term growth prospects or it'll come down the other side next week. No complaints though here as well. Long may it continue.

with interest in oil/commodity stocks now waning (it certainly does not feel like the right sector to be in at the moment), it is perhaps time to start looking at some good defensive stocks with the potential of being taken out ..... DOM looks a good candidate, as incidentally does RTN (Restaurant Group) on which there is already a thread .... Both these companies are well run (unlike PXC!) with good margins and profitability and of course, the food and leisure sector is one for growth (or even consolidation).

not as spectacular as RTN, but good solid performance anyway ..... Up from 550 at end November to 598 today ...... in the same timescale ..... GOO (vile); VOG (horrid); EME (rubbish); CHP (+ perhaps 16% thanks to recent relative surge); SEO (hahaha)

Finals due on Tuesday ..... fingers crossed for some good figures and, as always, a bullish trading statement ..... watch out (i guess) if 25 dma @ about 570 is broken downwards

looks like a VERY strong trading statement from DOM, so have strong hopes that sp will do rather more than just tick upwards .......
Am I really alone in following both DOM and RTN, both of proven quality? ...... if so, almost decline to comment further ...... taking a horse to water comes to mind

the stunning results have resulted in a surge in the sp ..... + about 25p in 48 hours ..... shall set a trailing stop but have yet to decide where
red = 9 dma
green = 25 dma

mitzy/cynic ...LOL. If only we knew!
IMHO shares may consolidate at this level for a short time. Recent rise was predictible after the Tender Offer and subsequent cancellation of shares accounting for the rise in December. Positive trading statement gave a further push but I think we may hover at this level for the time being. Historically, that is how DOM has moved - I am still holding with a 559% gain :-)

559%???? .... wowee! ..... even 59% is very nice thank you! ...... i am a newbie into DOM as at 29/11 @ 557 so am more than delighted that sp is now 628 after only 7 weeks ...... would that my investments were always that productive!

Thanks mitzy and cynic :-) They don't all perform this well!
Another very nice 10p today too so perhaps my prediction of consolidation premature - I hope so!
captain merton - are you still holding?

and still the price keeps rocketing away ..... no idea quite why this strong even though the company is performing well above expectations

Its nice to catch up with current comments on DOM. I started the old threads on DOM back in 2004, and I still hold. The dividend hike might be good again this year.

strange thing share prices sometimes ..... it has indeed rocketed away today by some 25p, yet there really have been only 38,000 traded, for i checked through my broker ...... no news of any kind; rsi is ridculously overbought ....... staying out as can see no logic at all - and will prob be proved totally wrong to do so, for the company is performing fantastically

it's not a problem i foresee, but am always nervous/suspicious of massive price movements on minuscule volumes ..... i suppose there is a rationalisation that there is a potential big buyer so MMs are raising the price to tempt some to sell ...... One could also argue that, perhaps with more logic, if the price took a tumble

getting back to a good buying level - i.e. when/if sp hits rising 25 dma
