New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

A find from the other side.
Bullion Vault .co.uk
Bioplastics concern Biome Technologies has reduced first-half losses 40 per cent to 1.7 million and sees growing interest from the USA.

The company says an apparent 17 per cent turnover fall to $6.7 million in the six months to June reflects a move from 100 per cent to 50 per cent consolidation of a joint venture, Biotec JV and explains turnover on a comparable basis showed a 40 per cent increase, with its Stanelco radio frequency side nearly doubling sales.

Chief executive officer Paul Mines says pending European Union legislation favouring disposable packaging continues to work for Biome, which moved from the Main Market to AIM last month after raising 2.7 million at a lowly 0.125p. He adds the company, which until recently was called Stanelco, is finding 18 months of effort in the US market is now 'bearing fruit' in the food services and food processing sectors across the Pond.

According to Mines, a new high temperature food packaging product has met a 'reasonable response' and should benefit Biome's second-half performance. He says interest is picking up from electronics and durables companies in casings made in bio-based materials, with makers of razors and other personal care items also inquiring.

Observers suggest the company, which mostly sells to smaller and medium-sized concerns keen to boost their brands, is understood to be holding product trials with more than one leading European electronics group. With 4.7 million cash at the end of June, Biome could be heading towards profitability in 2012, argue some analysts.

Biome shares, which traded above 4p 10 years ago in their old Stanelco guise, now languish at 0.13p. They have speculative recovery appeal for the bold.

Good luck driver, you deserve rewards for patience here! I only have a very small amount now as I wrote them off and took it on the chin. I'm pinning my hopes on atuk and cnr now!

Cheers mp I also wrote these off but with a couple of top ups here I may see some return lol.

Balerboy - 04 Nov 2010 11:51 - 58 of 644

2.5p would put me in good profit, so I'll drink to that.,.

Good Luck.

Re RNS.

I just can't win with this company.
For years I expected to make a profit. During this time the sp was continually eroded.
So I held on hoping things would turn round. Then a few years ago, I started to look at my holdings in a different light. I had held on far too long, so I would hold onto my massive loss, to put against any CGT.
Then guess what. Yep, as soon as it looks like I might need to put this new strategy into effect, they start doing things right, like, 'Group's five year historic growth trajectory of 1132% recognized as UK's second fastest growing GreenTech business in Deloitte Technology Fast50', and putting out what looks like a very good trading update. Hence my loss to put against CGT being reduced.
Still way, way down but must admit it is looking good. Will never get my money back, but at least its nice to see my losses coming down.
So it still pains me how myself and many other investors were mislead and badly treated, but obviously the past is the past. On looking to the future, dare I say, it is looking at last like a turn around.
I might even stop sticking pins in the voodoo dolls of previous board members. Well perhaps not.

kimoldfield - 05 Nov 2010 07:57 - 61 of 644

Lol Greek!

Amazing update? No! However it certainly is encouraging. I particularly like this bit:-

" exciting progress continues to be made on developing and launching new products in partnership with a number of large international customers. Examples of this partnership approach include working with a market leading American supplier to the food processing market that has now successfully launched a range of products based on Biome Bioplastic materials in its markets and with a multinational beverage and confectionery manufacturer, whose full-scale trials are nearing completion."

Now, we have heard them say things like that in the past; the problem then was that they assumed they had fantastic products, which they probably did, and that those products would sell like hot cakes. How wrong they were! I get the feeling, and I hope I am right, that they will not make the same mistake twice.

greekman - 05 Nov 2010 08:03 - 62 of 644

Me thinks, will be going straight into auction. Bid offer both .27p for first opening minute.

Balerboy - 05 Nov 2010 08:12 - 63 of 644

Kim, I think once bitten once shy comes into play now, they hopefully won't fall into the same trap as before. Personally I think I might see my over investment in this comp, actually come good and not so far in the distant future. Only got to get past 1.36p for me, it has crossed my mind to have a few more......idiot I know, but when they consolidate i shall still have half a mil shares to gaze at.,.

kimoldfield - 05 Nov 2010 08:32 - 64 of 644

Steady now BB!! Sadly, I am tempted to buy another chunk. Help required. :o(

Balerboy - 05 Nov 2010 08:40 - 65 of 644

lol.;))

greekman - 05 Nov 2010 08:40 - 66 of 644

Balerboy,

You say, "Only got to get past 1.36p for me". If only, I hate to admit it but my average on what was Seo is around 20p. So to get my money back the sp would have to rise around, 100,000%. I appreciate that the present management are working well, but I think even the odd required miracle is beyond them.
Have never let heart rule head since. Expensive lesson, all the same, although I was not too heavily invested not like some.

Balerboy - 05 Nov 2010 08:58 - 67 of 644

I too bought in at 15/20 and 28p but foolishly averaged down as it dropped in hope.
Am way over the top in what I should have spent and stood to lose a lot of dosh, I am soooooo glad it hasn't gone tit's up and maybe come good early for me. I have found (at my cost) it takes 5-6 years of a hard learning curve to trade shares at a profit, and still a lot to learn but not losing so much now adays.,.

blanche - 05 Nov 2010 09:22 - 68 of 644

the company were break even for the last three months, Bodes well. I think they are actually turning the corner imvho 8-)
