You can't keep a good share down!!
Myownmoney, hold for the long term, these are gems, add a few cde from ofex is my advice if you are feeling a little more daring or add some sve, just take a look at its portfolio jam packed with little gems.
Its difficult knowing when to sell, there really is no answer, you sell when you have identified a better prospect or you simply need the money! Altternatively cash in your profit and invest it high yield lower risk, lloyds/legal and general etc are all looking like good long term plays as the ftse moves back to mid 6000 and beyond
We are not financial advisers just private investors just like you, yes with our own money so have just as much to lose if we get it wrong, what we post here is a leg-up/ a heads up, please please dyor and only invest what you can lose, spread the risk and top slice your holdings if you feel you are getting a little overweight in a particular share, say if you've made 2k, bank the profit and invest elsewhere, note I don't always practice what I preach, unfortunately??
Good luck

I have been trading since October jumping in and out of stocks and making big gains like 1000 profit in one week but then loosing by buying poor stocks. Also been using Stop Losses and watching a Stop Loss trigger on VOG just before a massive rise. This is gutting because while at work of have got exciting over a massive rise only to find I had sold on a Stop Loss triggered by a single trade before a massive jump - getting home to find the bad news.
So I'm also trying to not use Stop Losses and playing the long game and waiting for news on, TAG, CHP, PVR, DVS (Monday), SEO. I am surprised about HNR because this mining company is always producing good news and yet the SP always falls back to previous levels. Others like EME seem to rocket on nothing more than speculation.

Why imho one should hold onto VOG, certainly in the short term.
They have just become a producer via Kemerkol with 2 other shut in wells in the advanced stage of bring to production
Well 104 flow rates to be released in the very near future.
Well 106 at present being drilled (may have been completed by now?) close by to give a better understanding of the structure.
Well 103 also being drilled(to a much deeper depth) in a different area to help
prove up the 5.5TCF/gas.
In early April a extrodinary meeting to take place for fund raising(via shares),
possible acquistion?
And of course we've been promised news by end of Q1 (next week).
O/T
Technotamed;
Your referance to EME, the speculation you refer to is
concerning the completion of a proven oil field Eagle North 1 which is being
horizontally drilled and probably entered at this moment in time. It also has a
fantastic prospect in Germany Glantel 1 which has been drilled and cased,
results analyised and awating a the arrival of a completion rig.
Some trouble with with Eagle so slow progress being made (hence the SP
fluxuating).
Well worth checking out as it could be worth a whole lot more the VOG in time.

I did hold eme from 97p then topped up later, Stop Loss triggered and sold the lot (at a profit). SP has been all over the place and has put me off some what, but I have all my cash tied up at present. Been hoping for good news on TAG so I can top slice and leave the rest running. Unlike many I got in on TAG at 58p & 60p so really packing it at the moment if the news is not good, but feel it should be. If the Seismic results were not good the company performing the work would not have taken shares as payment.

Tech;
I feel its worth waiting for the Eagle (EME)result before deciding what's best?
A good result and one will have to pay a premium, if negative a chance to top up
at a lower price. My firm belief is once the workover rig arrives it will rocket.
Looking forward to next week for VOG's expected results, although nothings certain it all points to postive news.

I have been jumping on and off VOG since it's rocket upwards from 40p, jumped on after it's retrace from 130p. Stop Loss triggered and sold before a rise, jumped on and off, now on again waiting for news.
Trading only from October so still learning the trade and which traders on these BBs to trust. Several at my works trading, we have a running SP on our various stocks at the bottom of the dry white board.

Victoria Oil says results to be delayed from Well 104 on West Medvezhye project
AFX
LONDON (AFX) - Victoria Oil & Gas PLC said drilling results from Well 104 on its West Medvezhye project are expected in May 2006 rather than in the first quarter of the year as originally expected because of changes to the testing programme.
'To maximise the information gathered at West Medvezhye we have taken the decision to drill an additional well at 104 and to conduct extended testing within the existing wellbore,' said managing director William Kelleher.
In January, Victoria Oil said the entire West Medvezhye license block in Western Siberia potentially contains recoverable hydrocarbon resources of about 1.1 bln barrels of oil equivalent.
Drilling has started on appraisal Well 106, with completion expected in April, and on new exploration well, Well 103, with completion expected in May.
Kelleher added that the company expects to report detailed results from the Danniella Field in the coming months 'when we hope to further increase potential recoverable resources at the project.'

Yeh ! what a bummer ! We'll need to wait another 2 months for the news we've all been waiting... SP will most likely drift down for the next 4-6 wks so will habg on for now as still in profit (just about!)

I'm going to keep an eye on this through April. May get some interesting info from EGM and 106.
For now, risk is too high for me and news in RNS way below what was expected.
Summary from top of RNS:
Development Update on West Medvezhye Project, Russia
Fracture stimulation of Well 104 and drilling of a twin well to optimise
on-going testing with results expected May 2006
Drilling commenced on appraisal Well 106 with completion expected April
2006
Drilling commenced on new exploration well, Well 103, with completion
expected in May 2006

Sounds to me like they are taking their time and making sure they've got their facts correct, maybe there's more down there than even they anticipated!!
This could be an amazing find!!! remember Cairn anybody

On the other hand this could be a 'cats on the roof story'!!
If they are, 'maximising the information gathered' they already know something that could be released if only to steady the SP.
