I was surprised to find that there's no thread on Ferrex. I bought in 2 months ago, since when the share price has doubled. It seems to be an excellent company, with a strong management team that bring with them a proven track record. Good news keeps flowing, including today's announcement:
Ferrex has increased its interest in the Leinster manganese project in South Africa by 25% to 74% percent after securing ministerial approval to buy a further stake in Umbono Minerals Holdings. The project, which covers 46,868 hectares in the Leinster basin, has previously been extensively explored by Anglo American, which drilled 51 boreholes between 1977 and 1988.
Consultants Coffey Mining have defined an exploration target – which is compliant with the globally recognised JORC standard – of between 5.5 and 8.7 million tonnes at a grade of 28.6 to 31.3 percent manganese at the project. Ferrex plans to start exploration and infill drilling in the second quarter to define a maiden JORC resource in the third quarter of 2012.
