Hello Socs, I've been so busy today....cleaned the fans on the PC tower. Thought the unit might appreciate a little fresh air. BTW the rechargable batteries in the mouse are lasting as long as FOUR days lol. Couldn't keep up with the non rechargable ones.

Opto
My Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse uses 2 x AA batteries. I use Duracell, you know, the ones that keep bunnies going longer! They last for several weeks, a month is typical, sounds like you may have a duff mouse. So far, I've not had to change the keyboard batteries at all.

optomistic - 19 Jun 2005 15:01 - 5012 of 24230

Thanks Socs I'll try returning it to PC World and see how it goes.

jj50 - 19 Jun 2005 15:12 - 5013 of 24230

Ditto Socs ..... my mouse (logitech) keeps trundling along
for 6 weeks or so on Duracell and I have never changed the keyboard
batteries either.

Opto
Some advice please .. am considering a wireless router, I have avoided
so far as my understanding is less secure, even with firewall. What
do you think?

optomistic - 19 Jun 2005 15:19 - 5014 of 24230

jj, I haven't got a router yet. My PC helper came to try and fit a wired one and had problems, but I think it was due to my second PC being....OLD!
Another friend connected his two modern PC's with a wireless router with no problems.
Must be someone around here that can give you secific advice, sorry I can't...not tooooo bright with some things around the PC.
Must go offline now, good luck.

Thanks opto. Have a good afternoon :-)

Socrates - 19 Jun 2005 16:57 - 5017 of 24230

Fundy
I thought it always rained up there?

Fundamentalist - 19 Jun 2005 17:27 - 5018 of 24230

Tell me about it socs - even on nice hot sunny days too!!!

Spaceman - 19 Jun 2005 17:28 - 5019 of 24230

optomistic, dont forget not all rechargables are the same, some have a greater capacity than other. $ days sounds very bad I get a couple of weeks to a month with my Logitech.

JJ, re wireless, it is less secure but it can be fairly secure, probably not a problem unless you have specific security requirements. Wireless is also much slower but again this may well not matter, if you dont move big files across the wireless links, for broadband its fine.

Had a fantastic day walking through the kent countryside, sun didnt go in once. Nice bit of sunday lunch in a pub and a paddle to cool my feet.

I like Kent, Thanet is my favourite because I like the seaside. Second is Capel-le-Ferne, looking out over the English Channel from the top of the cliffs, magic.

PCF Last week issues an RNS stating that they had been approached in the early stages of a bid. The current valuation is way to low and is about to rocket with the full bid any day. The company is moving back into profit and several broker/tipster recommended it as a buy prior to the bid news

On top of this there is a rumour of a second bidder in the wings going about

This will reach new highs this week, now is the time to get in before it heads toward 100p, current sp is 32p

IMHO

Morning All, working from home again today hot and sticky in Hastings but a bit overcast. It was 28C indoors last night when I went to bed at 0100 even though we had all the windows open.

Have a good week.

jeffmack - 20 Jun 2005 09:26 - 5028 of 24230
