NORTHERN PETROL ???? (NOP)

LEEWINK - 12 Aug 2003 11:59

looks like its hit oil, don't know whats gonna happen, any idea's ???

Rutherford - 27 Sep 2006 09:50 - 502 of 567

Most of the aim oilers have fallen recently so not a surprise that NOP is down. May get a surprise in the next day or two when the interims are announced. This is a very good longterm play. IMHO!

Rutherford - 27 Sep 2006 09:59 - 503 of 567

Hope you didnt buy into FEP this morning as some profit taking on the go and all up on potential and seismic. I would imagine you can get in a lot cheaper in a month when the euphoria dies down as it is still some time before production wil come on line and possible fundraising in the meantime to allow drilling.

soul traders - 27 Sep 2006 11:05 - 504 of 567

JanetB, NOP is most certainly a good investment but you have to think medium-term at least, IMO. REcent falls are due to the overall slide in the market plus the fact that NOP's schedule is looking a little slow at the moment. That's not to say it's not a good investment, but I think many are feeling they can make money elsewhere while NOP gears up for production.

Obviously I have no idea where FEP's SP is going to wind up. This morning it didn't get away quite as fast as I expected to. I would echo Rutherford's note of caution about this one and say don't invest more than you can afford to lose.

janetbennison - 27 Sep 2006 11:13 - 505 of 567

I have decided to stick with nop. Left a bid to buy earlier on at 1.32 on fep. Just missed them before they started to go up again. Pity i did not leave 1.34 on them. I would have bought them. it was not to be they are now well up again. good luck to everyone.

Janet, you might like to take a look at Renesola (SOLA) - good visibility of earnings and lots of orders (some prepaid, covering a large chunk of their production capacity for the next three years) for their photovoltaic wafers. As always PDYOR.

Off Topic:
Janet: EME have some good prospects coming to fruition in the next few weeks. Certainly worth a look! A lot of upside potential.

Rutherford - 29 Sep 2006 09:15 - 508 of 567

Market happy with interim results.

Good rise of 10.5% yesterday so something is brewing and look for more today!

blanche - 22 Mar 2007 16:57 - 510 of 567

I brought into this share at 53p a few moons ago.Everything was looking rosey in the garden @1.50 plus but over the last 6 mths its just slowly drifted downwards.
I haven`t really looked at it for a while, so checked last update and everything seems to be going ok. Odd delays etc but thats not new for an oil company.
Just wondered if anybody could let me have there thoughts on the company.
Many Thanks

hangon - 05 Apr 2007 15:19 - 511 of 567

Some RNS news looks positive; but the real reason for the drift is the lack of a severe winter and easing of the Gas from Russia - nothing like a cold nip to stir the actions of Brokers.
However, you have seen a 100% rise so why not leave well alone - the business looks to be moving forward and in an industry that can sell all it makes.

Compared with UK-manufacturing, or Retail, this has to be a winner.
DYOR.

Jeremy, I bought NP shares at ten pence, then sold them, and now i'm back in again for the long term.

My only concern is are we going to have a problem with the dutch assets: such as biodegradation of the like we encounted at Sandhills?
If not, with the latest revaluation, i would say the shares are well undervalued, and i won't be selling... even if the Avington well comes up dry.

Barclay of Huddersfield

Bought these at 6p and then got nervous! LOL. Maybe it's time to take another look.

blanche - 05 Apr 2007 17:08 - 513 of 567

Many Thanks for your reply ( H ) I will hang on as i brought them as long term. Just thought as scrooge they were undervalued.

soul traders - 06 Apr 2007 10:13 - 514 of 567

Yesterday's FT adds to the notion that these are undervalued - based on a report by Panmure Gordon which includes a new price target of 260p if memory serves (the report is probably included on NOP's website, but I haven't had a chance to check).

I may launch a new thread on this stock, but don't let me put you off posting on this one for the time being.

Good luck to holders.

FWIW The bottom line at present is that NOP is continuing to add to its considerable portfolio of licences and is moving towards production from its Dutch assets. Off the top of my head I think that the revenue stream looks a bit thin at present, but funding is in place for the planned developments and these will see revenues increase around the back end of 2008.

This is, after all an E&P company - with, currently, a lot of emphasis on the "E" (exploration) but "P" (production) will follow. The move into the gas storage joint venture looks like a good one - could potentially be very lucrative, with probably high start-up costs (haven't investigated, but Egdon Resources would provide a good comparison) but low maintenance costs.

Still, WDIK, just theorising at this point, but am definitely tempted to get back into the stock at this price given the prospects. Should be view as at least a medium-term hold, IMO.

PDYOR, etc.

austing2253 - 23 Apr 2007 09:41 - 516 of 567

Take a look at NOP, the market seems to like the latest RNS

Dynamite - 23 Apr 2007 15:53 - 517 of 567

Well I just sold my NOP shares in my SIPP for a 47% profit but I still hold them in my main ac...doing very well today and still a long way to go for NOP

soul traders - 23 Apr 2007 16:13 - 518 of 567

I wish I'd given into temptation a couple of weeks ago . . . Still, just bought a handful - I agree with Dynamite as recent newsflow has been very encouraging.

hewittalan6 - 23 Apr 2007 16:53 - 519 of 567

Good question, Al. But I have learned from my mistakes and am now trading on a far more active strategy.

Good luck to all,
ST
